Making up a union for the top hose ..

View attachment 8470

Might leave the bend in it or cut the bend out and weld the two pieces together ??
Still in the think tank on that !

Going to get the rad. mounted in the truck and take a look at how the bend flows to the thermostat housing which is from a 55 Chevy 265 ci V-8 .... It's cast iron ..
Your welds throughout this project are pretty impressive.

Dang .... It just might work out ...
Had to order a hose that's made for God only knows ... It has a bend in it but does have a long enough run for me to do some slice & dice on ...
It was ordered, will be here tomorrow ..
I hear you. I go to AutoZone, and those idiots ask, what you working on, today. I think, you fools don't know anything. I have a 1979 Corvette ,that has a ton of mods in it. Your not going to type in, 1979 Corvette, and find the part I need. If it's not in the computer, they don't have a clue. I know it's a lot worse with what your doing. IDK if I already mentioned this, or not, but the other day, my alternator rear bearing, started making noise. So, I pull it out, and take it apart. The rear bearing was seized in the case, and I ended up braking the rear of the case , trying to get the bearings out. So, I txt the PO, and asked about the alt. He said it's the tuff stuff, 140 amp. Autozone had a 63 amp, and since I pulled off the Holley sniper, I figure, that may be OK, so I take a chance, and bring it home. I sanded it down, and buffed it out, to make it shine, ( polished aluminum), and install lt. It worked fine at RPMs about about 1000-1200 or so. The electric fans, pull hard, and with the AC, and headlight on, at idle RPMs it's about 10-12 volts. So, I look at the pulley. When I installed the new alt, I noticed the adjustment for the belt, was closer to the engine, and I had more adjustment. Before with the old alt, the adjustment was about maxed out. Well after running the new alt, I swapped the pulley, after looking at the one, that was on the 140 amp, alt. It is definitely a smaller pulley. So, now, the new 63 amp alt, is charging at 13 volts, at idle, and keeps up with the AC, fans, and headlights, ECT. Also, I had the same issues, with my 97, Silverado, when I did the electric fans swap. I ordered a smaller pulley for Summit, I think. On my truck, the idle volts with everything on, would fall to 9 volts. After the pulley swap, not it stays around 12-13 volts.

Kool ....

Did a test fit on the top hose ...
Being it has a bend in it makes it a really good fit ...

Netted a much better look than using the 45 degree connector that I have in hand ..
Had to order a straight connector ..

Since a order went in also got a few hose clamps that are better than the standard worm type clamps ..

I do a lot of car shows. I was showing my 97 Silverado, and even won 2,, 3ed place trophies with it, before I bought the Corvette. The Corvette is getting there, but still needs some cosmetic things to pull a trophy. I have been repainting the hood, for the 3ed time. Maybe this time, it won't have any flaws, this time. Man I hate paint work, and it's definitely harder, on a fiberglass, Corvette. So, there was a trunk or treat this morning, at our local Ford dealer, but all were welcome. Anyway, we have 2 Studabaker trucks that follow our group. Both are pre war trucks . Here is the red one. It has a small block , 383 stroker. The other one has a big block Chevy in it, 454, or bigger. Screenshot_20241027-192849.png

Been working on extending the transfer case to engine block strut rod ..
Hope to have it done and on in a few more hours .. ??
Got to dimple the exhaust pipe a half inch or so ..

Plumbed the transmission cooler lines .. That went down pretty nice ..

Radiator support cross rods needs to be a bit longer ..
Getting another one from a Junker so there would only one weld to do ..
Still waiting for the hose connector and clamps to come in ..

The rod was off of a truck that had a TH 350 trans and a NP-203 transfer case, with what I now have going on with the tranny swap it was about 6 inches to short ...

Making good progress ...
