Get a GOOD box for the tools...
It will be well worth it in the long run.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
I have a craftsman box for my tools. It's nice enough for me, but I certainly don't use it every day. And I can tell you if I was a pro, I wouldn't be using it. :dunno:

If you can afford it, and that is what you want get a good one. Otherwise wait until you land a good job to upgrade. I hire techs for a living, and nobody is guaranteed that high end job. Tools are expensive. I have never seen the Snap On student program include the higher end KRL boxes in that discount, but they may have changed that now. Tools among techs is always a touchy subject. Many are against the expensive brands so I don't get in the middle of it anymore. I am a tool whore, and I love my Snap On stuff but that is just me. I enjoyed a good career as a tech

Too bad you're not up here by me Dave. A store here, Menards, carries a MasterForce brand. The have AMAZING boxes and for cheap!! They are very nice boxes with ballbearing drawers. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between them and the top-of-the-line Craftsman, but at less than half the price. Here's all their boxes. Also they carry a Lifetime Warranty. My buddy bought the 41" set (cabinet and chest) for $730 on sale.

Sorry, but the closest store to you is 6hrs and 300mi away in Lancaster, OH. :( I guess it could always be shipped to you. :jester:

I'd like to get either the 41" or the 56" someday for myself. Gotta wait for them to go on sale though and probably next year at the earliest. Can't get any better deal.

I agree as well with getting a good box. We had a few lesser brand name boxes and a few Craftsman where I use to work in the Air Force on jet engines and they didn't last at all. We finally went with Matco boxs and have not had any issues with them for the few years before I retired up to the day I retired.

Look at it this way, would you put a $200k vehicle in a cheap tin built garage?

The snapon man will be in class tomorrow morning. Might end with getting the harbor freight US General box due to the high cost of snap on stuff.

Will they let you open a charge account with them if so go to town 50% off tools won't come again. I know money is tight you might look at Kobalt tool boxes they have lifetime warranty.
