I need help buying my tools for class at school

Man if I could have gotten 50% of on costs I would have the best stuff by now haha. I friggin love snap on and matco tools they are really dependable and a great warranty. If you are gonna do this for a living buy a nice box... I know when I worked at Caterpillar they would rag on anyone that didn't have a nice tool box. Habour freight stuff is ok for the occasional user but if your gonna be using it daily you want a good product. I still have my first snap on tool box and it is about 7 years old and still works like new... Plus most snap on guys are really nice and cut you good deals if you buy lots from them so maybe you could work out a good deal. A cheap box is like putting the seats of a Rolls Royce into a ford fiesta

That US General box is actually quite good, most reports that I read speculate that it's made in the same plant as newer craftsman boxes (craftsman doesn't make boxes in the US anymore) and it's almost an identical build. That said it's the same level as a craftsman, a craftsman will not last as an every day professional mechanics box. As a home box it's fantastic but not for the pros.

As for the rest if you get 50% off great go all snapon but if you're paying full price there are other options that are either the same price for higher quality or the same quality for a lower price. Specifically look at boutique brand Japanese or European tools. Snapon and Matco are two of the few where you can count on pretty much every tool being of high quality but if you mix and match different venders you can get better tools for cheaper.

Will they let you open a charge account with them if so go to town 50% off tools won't come again. I know money is tight you might look at Kobalt tool boxes they have lifetime warranty.

The Kobalt toolboxes arent lifetime. They got 3 year warranty. Its the hand tools thats lifetime. Craftsman toolboxes are 30 warranty and that US General is a 90 day warranty.

I ordered a craftsman socket 200+ all 6pt sockets and impact socket std. and metric. Got the set today and craftsman ratchets arent like what they used to be. They look like something from a cheap vender at a flea market. Glad i ordered snapon ratchets to replace them.

The snapon man that does the schools and factories in the area where the school is told a classmate that using craftsman tools is not problem to him but you'd be using the craftsman warranty before you ever use the snapon warranty in a long term.
