I know...it's sucks...hard...it was our only vehicle, I have limited funds at the moment <--seasonal lawn guy, and certainly can't go work with no truck to get me and my equipment there..

does most of the stuff from my 4.3l bolt right on to a 4.8 5.3?
exactly how much stuff would be needed to make a switch?..because I'm cool with just replacing the v6 and buying new gaskets.

What year is your truck? If I recall you older BS, you'd be looking at 5.7 350, Not 4.8 or 5.3 for an easier swap.

Yep... When I dropped a valve and exploded the front of my oil pan (and taking a piece of the block with it, due to the busted connectiong rod)in order to save money, just tear it apart and rebuild whatever broke.....MY guess is you bent a rod or spun a bearing....
Maybe, but I'm not sure how the coolant would have ended up in the pan with just a rod.

I would be worried about a head, head gasket or a cracked block.
I know where there is a used 4.8 in the Jersey area.
I didn't lose any coolant.
Every couple years a coolant flush is a good idea.

None of your brackets will work on a 4.8/5.3/6.0...
They will, however, bolt right up to a 350
The 4.3 is basically a 5.7 with two cylinders chopped off.
I have had several 4.3's.

None of your brackets will work on a 4.8/5.3/6.0...
They will, however, bolt right up to a 350
And you can get a brand new one for around $2500 or less.

How do you tear up a 4.3???
I am on my 4th truck with a 4.3.
I have put a "TON" on miles on them and have had almost no trouble with them AT ALL.
The one that burned in my garage fire in November of 2006...(it was a 1999) ... had a "QUARTER MILLION MILES" on it.
Still didn't use any oil between changes and ran as good as the day I bought it new.
The 2006 I have now... that I bought in 2007 .... has over 80,000 on it.
All I have ever done to it is put gas in it... change the oil every once in a while... and drive the heck out of it.
