wow thats terrible. Hope things turn around for you!
Yep... When I dropped a valve and exploded the front of my oil pan (and taking a piece of the block with it, due to the busted connectiong rod)in order to save money, just tear it apart and rebuild whatever broke.....MY guess is you bent a rod or spun a bearing....
Maybe, but I'm not sure how the coolant would have ended up in the pan with just a rod.
That sucks man!! What was it doing to make you change plugs?
I would be worried about a head, head gasket or a cracked block.
I know where there is a used 4.8 in the Jersey area.![]()
I know...it's sucks...hard...it was our only vehicle, I have limited funds at the moment <--seasonal lawn guy, and certainly can't go work with no truck to get me and my equipment there..Hardly even spring clean-up time.
does most of the stuff from my 4.3l bolt right on to a 4.8 5.3?
exactly how much stuff would be needed to make a switch?..because I'm cool with just replacing the v6 and buying new gaskets.
The 4.3 is basically a 5.7 with two cylinders chopped off.
I have had several 4.3's.
Good luck.

I didn't lose any coolant.
Every couple years a coolant flush is a good idea.

None of your brackets will work on a 4.8/5.3/6.0...
They will, however, bolt right up to a 350![]()
