Well, truck motor blew up today and is dead

Had my gm buddy come by....said I threw something in the bottom..there was half a gallon of coolant mixed with my oil. He said it waited til it got the new spark plugs and went kabluey. Said it would have been causing all my symptoms, not the plugs...

Had to 2 foot it home (brake and gas) just to keep it running...huge orange smoke trail...

Everything else according to him is good, so I'm looking at dropping in a crate motor and bolting all my stuff to it.

How in the flying uck am I gonna pay for that...??

You might try finding a slightly used engine at a bone yard instead, to save a little money.

I agree on finding a boneyard replacement though. Those are good engines and can still be had for reasonable money used.

in order to save money, just tear it apart and rebuild whatever broke..... MY guess is you bent a rod or spun a bearing....

Maybe, but I'm not sure how the coolant would have ended up in the pan with just a rod.

That sucks man!! What was it doing to make you change plugs?

I would be worried about a head, head gasket or a cracked block.

I know where there is a used 4.8 in the Jersey area.
