The 4.3 is basically a 5.7 with two cylinders chopped off.
I have had several 4.3's. :)

Good luck.

Yep!

I'm on #2 in the Blazer

How do you tear up a 4.3??? :dunno:
I am on my 4th truck with a 4.3.

I have put a "TON" on miles on them and have had almost no trouble with them AT ALL. :dunno:

The one that burned in my garage fire in November of 2006...(it was a 1999) ... had a "QUARTER MILLION MILES" on it.
Still didn't use any oil between changes and ran as good as the day I bought it new.

The 2006 I have now... that I bought in 2007 .... has over 80,000 on it.
All I have ever done to it is put gas in it... change the oil every once in a while... and drive the heck out of it. :dunno:

 Have you read any of his threads on how he literally abuses that thing?

It got a little thirsty in a river... Bent a valve... 15000 km later the valve dropped...

Maybe I should post up a couple pics in another thread :uhoh:

Yeah... I remember that.
I know what a dropped valve can do.

I popped the head off of a valve in a BB 427.
It busted the piston...bent the rod and the wrist pin messed up the cylinder wall too bad to be fixed. :(

Had to put a new crate motor in it.

Damn...real sorry to hear that.
Have you checked around at wrecking yards... see if they have a cheap one that you could just swap out real quick?

That would be the easiest and cheapest way to go.

But not warranteed.....just "hope" they work and I'm out $1200, But I found one from gearhead crate motors, $2200 shipped to my mechanics door, then $245 back when they pay to come get the old one. $1965 -ish

I'm still looking though...not giving up on these few from the salvage yards that are under 40,000 mile, under $1000 bucks.

2003
Engine
Chevy Blazer S10/Jimmy S15/Typhoon(4.3L, VIN X, 6-262)-14K,14,000A36703 $850Fredd's Auto Salvage USA-MI(Saginaw)

2003
Engine
Chevy Truck Silverado 15004.3,AUTO ,RWD,10/02,RUNS GOOD,4.3L (VIN X, 8TH DIGIT)- (VIN X, 8thdigit)33,000A18348 $800Fox Auto Parts USA-MI(Belleville)

just 2 of several....but not warrenteed, not like new/reman. crate, strictly get what you get and hope it runs for a day.

Dang that is a lot of money for a 4.3. Can't you just get a used shortblock somewhere and reuse all of your other stuff way cheaper than that?

he said it has gaskets and stuff too...I'm liking the upgrade mojo...but that comes with replacing a bunch of other stuff..I want the stuff I have to work so I guess I'm going exact replacement. 4.3L...like the $850 one, 33,000 miles from a silverado...I'd say exact swap, like turning back the clock on the engine I have. Hell he may have some stuff still hooked to it, make my job easier..
