I have some options on my window tint.

currently i have 5% on the back three windows and somewhere between 20-30% on the front two windows. and nothing on the windshield

Im getting my windshield replaced saturday so i want to get it tinted and i have some options. First off i know its illegal and understand that and so if you dont like it just refrain from posting in this thread.

I either want to get my whole windshield tinted or get an eyebrow.

If i get the whole thing done im not sure how dark i should go. i think max ill do is 30% but idk if id even go that dark. any personal experience is welcome.

or should i just do a 5% eyebrow that is 7-9" from the top of the windshield?

anyone that knows the south summer heat will understand my reasonings. also with the whole thing i know i will have to keep an area clear for the registration and inspection stickers but other than that is gps mounts fine? (its gonna be on tint either way

I'm also actually thinking of doing both. A light tint on the whole thing and a 5% brow to make it appear to not be tinted

I'd personally just go with the brow, but guys who have the shield tinted to 35% claim they have no problems seeing.

Regardless of the legal or illegal nature, I would not tint the whole thing just because it's going to have a huge negative effect on being able to see at night. I know some have it done and claim it's no big deal... but I call BS on that. Drive around for a night or two with some good dark sunglasses on and you'll be throwing rocks at the tinted windshield idea.

I say go for a brow and be done with it.

You did ask!

35% is the darkest you will want to go. Cops have sharp eyes. 50% is too light, 35% imo is too dark, if you can, try getting a nice inbetween, if they make 40% or so. You will like it, and the UV protection, and the more clarified look. Just dont ever get in a wreck! Even if your rear ended if they notice your windshield is tinted, fault may fall back on ya. They're like that.

Regardless, go for it if you have good vision

I understand the seeing at night issues and the only reason I'm proceeding with the possibilty of doing the whole thing is I can see just fine out of the 20-25% on the front two windows at night where as the 5% back is another story.

I'm really starting to think a 40% ish plus 5% brow will be best but ihope to look at a few vechiles with it done when I go in to the place to do it. And Darren I think I can make 40 with two sheets possibly.

There is another option, I have seen 2 new windshields on the market, one is tinted blue, the other is called black chrome. You cannot see the tint from the inside, but only from the outside, and it is perfectly legal. I am not a fan of tinting a windshield, I had 5% all around on my truck (not windshield) and at night, had a hell of a time seeing. when I painted the truck, I took the tint off all the windows and replaced the rear glass with factory tinted glass, and matched the front to the rear. Much better!

I have a 20% brow on mine and I'm perfectly satisfied with it. :dunno:
I had one friend who had 20% on every window in his car even the windshield. Even at high noon, you could not see into his car at all, but you could see out of it fine during the day. But at night, I don't know how the hell he was able to drive that thing and not get in a wreck.

Well I have 15% on my back window, and 35% on the sides, and sometimes if it's real dark I have a tough time seeing when backing up and whatnot, and I have a 5% strip probably about 5 or 6" and I think that's perfect. But with that said I live in Ohio, not a sunny southern state, I would probably have different thoughts

I have 20% all the way around. Besides the WS. I can see out fine and have no problem at night either. I wanna go a tad bit darker like 15% if they make it. or maybe even 10%. I wanna get 35% on the WS w/ a 5% eyebrow personally. Maybe Mblouir will chime in he has some pretty dark windows I think they are 5% all the way around w/ 35 & 5 on the WS:dunno:
