I had HID's in the low beams on my Denali and I liked them a lot. (I thought the stock headlights SUCKED, though.) I bought HID's for the Subaru before I drove it much after dark and I have yet to install the kit because the stock lights are pretty good..
If you aim 'em properly, you shouldn't have problems with being flashed. The only times I can remember being flashed in the Denali was if I hit a dip in the road and the other person "thought" I had flashed them.
I never bothered upgrading the high beams or fogs, because they were so rarely ever needed or used (and there was a noticeable warm-up delay for the lights to come up to full brightness; so, putting HID's in the high beams just didn't make sense to me). I've heard too many bad things about the life-span on the "ultra-bright" style headlights. If I were to buy another GMT900 truck, I would immediately order an HID kit for the low beams and I'd probably not do anything with the others, for the same reasons I never did anything with the other lights on the Denali..
OH! I also disabled the DRL's on the Denali, so the HID's weren't running all the time..
