I had HID's in the low beams on my Denali and I liked them a lot. (I thought the stock headlights SUCKED, though.) I bought HID's for the Subaru before I drove it much after dark and I have yet to install the kit because the stock lights are pretty good..

If you aim 'em properly, you shouldn't have problems with being flashed. The only times I can remember being flashed in the Denali was if I hit a dip in the road and the other person "thought" I had flashed them.

I never bothered upgrading the high beams or fogs, because they were so rarely ever needed or used (and there was a noticeable warm-up delay for the lights to come up to full brightness; so, putting HID's in the high beams just didn't make sense to me). I've heard too many bad things about the life-span on the "ultra-bright" style headlights. If I were to buy another GMT900 truck, I would immediately order an HID kit for the low beams and I'd probably not do anything with the others, for the same reasons I never did anything with the other lights on the Denali.. :dunno:

OH! I also disabled the DRL's on the Denali, so the HID's weren't running all the time..

Ok I am leaning 85% towards just replacement bulbs out of ease and cost and I can support Blackbear!

If I decide to go with HID's, which brand? and where?

I bought one of the higher-priced kits because I didn't know any better (and I was in too much of a hurry to get better lights in it to look around on the net and ask questions ). I have seen a lot of people online say the inexpensive eBay kits are "just as good" as the expensive ones. I can't say for sure if that's true or not, though.. :dunno:

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
What is meant by "sharp cutoff."

The top of the beam is "FLAT" ... that way it does not blind oncoming drivers...
If you shine a flashlight at the wall... the spot of light on the wall is a circle...
If you put a piece of something over the upper portion of the front of the flashlight... the bottom part is still a circle.. but the top part now has a sharp cutoff...

Ah. I see. Makes sense.

Thanks

75% of people will disagree with me but www.ddmtuning.com

They are cheap, they stand behind there product. If you read reviews everyone says they have problems, 95% of those problems are USER install error. I have had 3 sets, in 3 different vehicles and couldn't be happier. I am planning on buying another set soon for my truck and for my bike from them. They are cheap and they work.

Try that sometime. You might be surprised. :)

I just tried it...
It kinda does it, but it doesn't work as well as I thought it would... :dunno:

When I pull up to my garage door... the HID headlights in the car have a VERY FLAT LINE across the door.... about waist high...
Now I am gonna have to find out how they do that.
I do know it has an "EYELID" on the inside of the light that moves up and down...
