Well kiss my grits and butter my biscuits !

Found the 781 heads that I been searching for ... Yippee

They're still on a motor that's in a junkyard ... Got to pull them and hope that they are buildable ..

Did a trade with the Gent ..

He has a generator Harley Shovelhead that ran when parked some 10+ years ago ..
My job is to get it to run again ..

( Wonder what kind of 'Can of Worms' I got myself into with this deal ? )

Sometimes opening a can of worms can turn into opening a can of shit. Kind of falls into the category of...you can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit! :D2

Got them in the cooker, after cleaning em will take a hard look for cracks ..
I can repair cracks if need be .. but I rather not, much rather use heads that are in mint condition for this build ..

Pasted that test with flying colors too ..

Gotta say these heads have a 77 date code and being as old as they are they're in great rebuildable shape ..

Wow !!
Just removed the valve guides for replacement ...
The exhaust guides are water cooled, a few of them was just about ate away almost to the valve stem ..

50 year old stuff here, Fellows !

Guides are on order, these are bronze and have a 11/32" I.D.
SS O/S valves are next to nail down along with springs, collars and 10 degree locks ...

Once all the parts come in, a world of work is on the menu to get done ...
Port and major bowl work will take alot of hands on time ...

Do have a Bowl Hog cutter that takes alot of the bowl work out of the picture ...

This tool is worth it's weight in gold for the job it does ...

Some port matching might help ..

Oil pan has been installed ...

Did gauged the oil to keep the crank from dipping into the oil ..
With 6 qts the oil is at the bottom of the GM windage plate ...
On the custom dipstick, that is where the full mark will be marked ..

Using a truck oil filter will add 2 more qts to have a total capacity of 8 qts ..
