Then what is the most you are going to tow? My 4.3 is rated at 5K and some. That would be able to pull a trailer and the same truck on it. Slowly mind you, and that alot of weight

A 4.8 or 5.3 would do it with ease, so would a 5.0 or 5.7. Just stay in the GVWR and you should be legal.

I pulled 5000lbs with my Blazer just fine :dunno:

Heck, I know people that pull bobcats on a daily basis with them

A 1/2 ton is more than most people need in hauling ability...

It's too bad no "mini" truck comes with an 8-foot bed

A 1/2 ton definitely gets you WAY more options with your budget, will ride better, do better on fuel, and with a BB tune and corvette servo will have you giggling

If you can, I'd try for a 5.3 RCLB or ECLB (if they made 'em in 1/2 ton).

Yup they made 'em but are few and far between.

Probably more likely to have a 5.3 in an ECLB than an RCLB...
Get searchin' Dave!

If you want bigger tires, you can always lift it later!

maybe I get good deal on a 4wd auto. while lookin too.

a 2500 non HD would work out well, 3.73s, 6.0L, 8 lug, long bed with a ext cab.

If you get a price in your head, just lemme me know Pops. I am srapping up pennies, and then I have to consider fuel cost to come get it too. Gas is only get higher in cost as we get into spring and summer, so sooner the better. Of course I know part of that depends on me too. I don't wanna Dave you. Have you all mustered up that you have a buyer, then drop the ball, I got 80's Grand Am that has a blown motor and trans that I'll trade you for. :rollin: But I do have a 95 Tbird with a blown motor sittin in front of my house. Looks just like the one the pics up there with the lawnmower on it.

Just funnin with you Dave. You have to admit, looking back, that it was funny, I don't care who ya are !!!
