I didn't know the 2011 Duramax was the motor trend truck of the year...

I know it has 397 hp and close to 800 tq. Might even be 765 But it seems more like 850 when you drive one pulling a trailer....

Lots of people are down on the cummins this year. They didn't up the numbers at all compared to Ford and GM.

I wouldn't have cared if they didn't do anything to the Hp/tq numbers if they would have upgraded the tranny...

Yeah...I think it's 765. Just goes to show that you can focus on winning the war on paper all you want...but having the highest numbers isn't everything. Max and Al tow better, stop better, and use less fuel than any other HD pickup.

The problem with the ford isnt the numbers. Its with reliability, still. The reverse flow heads (supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread) are leaking boost. The fuel system is way too small for what it has to feed. etc.

The thing about the Cummins is most people praise the Cummins just because of its reputation. Most in this thread wouldnt have any good info to back up their choice. Meanwhile they are lacking in numbers.

Duramax FTW

For 99% of users there will be no notable difference between the 3 engines. Very few people will ever haul enough to know the difference between 765 ft-lbs and 800 ft-lbs. I still like the cummins even if it doesn't have the power numbers there's a certain comfort factor to an I6 vs a V8 in a diesel.

Give dodge a year or two, I imagine the power figures will be increasing a bit and they are working on a 7 speed to put behind the cummins, that will put them right back in the running.

i like my superduty. :)

I towed a trailer with my `10 GMC thats rated at 411lb/ft, it sucked compared to my old 454 that put out 595lb/ft. More torque way lower in the rpm range, and less shifting. (4spd compared to 6spd) :crybaby:

i need a supercharger ;)

i like the new dirtymax. and like it was said. paper aint shit, pavement is the test. i like the new chevy HD, dislike the ford SD and wish dodge would get the tranny fixed cause they are some bad ass engines.

and i own a ford SD, but IMHO the best years ford made...
