Well as a fishing guide I guess I
have to
chime in
just kidding.
Just first things first don't get a Mercury! I have had nothing but problems with them. I am tired of pulling boats in because their "black anchor" got them stuck out on the water. Anyways if you want to just cruise around fishing only not booze cruising then I would get like a small john boat or something along that area. What size water are you gonna be in? Like the small lakes around Clemson? You could always get a used Bass Tracker for a great price and they are well built and plentiful for the lower price boats.
I also like the idea of a party barge but you take up 10x more space with them and they are pretty much a pain when something goes wrong. I have heard horror stories of guys having the pontoons leaking on those and to fix them the right way can be a royal PITA.
Give us some more ideas of what you're looking for too
