Hey Allen, just an update. You remember that servo pin that was stuck in the case for the rear band??? I finally got it out today just before I left the house. I ended up cutting the band out of the case, then hammering the pin all the way thru into the case. You should have seen that thing. It wasn't gonna come out even with all the heat I put on it. It was so corroded and rusted, there was no way it was coming out. But, I did finally get. So needless to say, the case didn't get to the machine shop for a bath today. It goes in the morning.
Cool im glad to hear that. No big push to get this thing done tues or wed of next week would work best for me would that be ok with you? Did you get that other part? The one that has the springs on it and the shift kit? Thanks again i know you had to kinda go the extra mile on this one.
I still got the 2 bands, the spiral snap ring and the shift kit to get. The parts have not showed up yet either. Still hoping for today, but its no rush now since my guys at the trans shop I used to take cases to get cleaned, they are no longer there and they no longer build transmssions there. They just sub out the builds and do R&R now. So I had to drop the case off with Bert, and he does not fire up the aluminum vat everyday, and it takes like 4 hours to heat up the solvent. So I dropped it off this morning, he says he has some aluminum parts to do tomorrow and will put the case in with them and have it cleaned by tomorrow afternoon. Kinda sucks but that is what happens when you go so long wo building one. You lose your connections. But, I know Bert, and he will do a good job on it. He charges $25 just to turn the vat on. Can't blame him though, the solvent is expensive, and ass loads of elecricity to heat it up and run the high pressure pumps. I think I introduced you to Bert at Moore Machine. That's where the case is now.
ok cool-yea i know burt-he did the 454 boring and cam bearings and freeze plugs-i grew up in moore burt is a great manchaniest. I do have the money to pay you... i was just hoping to go ahead and pay a bill then mon or tues id have the funds back to pay you. But if you need it or want it before then it's not a problem i'll pay you... If a engine is bored 30 over would the stock pistions look way to small comparing them to the cyclinder ?

I could sure use it now, but I don't like getting paid til I'm done, so go ahead and pay a bill. We can settle up when you pick it up.

I had my 454 bored 30 over...and i was looking at it and put the stock piston up to the new 30 over bored cyclinder and it looks like it's not bored-:dunno:the stock piston looks like it fit? I noticed that top ridge on the wall of the cyclinder isnt there that the stock pistons put before the rebuild. Am i just:dunce:and it is and its 30 over just alittle bigger but look like it fit?

If we have to get another case-we might as well-see if you can find one for 50 or if you want to part with one of yours i give ya the 50 if that's good with you. Tues i'll be able to give you your cut and pay for the new case-if you got the money or got one you will spare go ahead i'll settle up with you tues. thanks again with this problem child of a tranny.:cheers:

I didn't even see your above post, but as explained, all my 400 cores are BPO bellhousings. No Chebby. But anyway, I got that other funky azz trans all boxed up in parts, the rebuild table cleaned off tonight. I also decided to go ahead and move the new core to the table, remove the pan and take a look. By the fluid color and cleanliness inside so far, I think you got a builder this time. :thumbs: Here is pics for you to compare the 2. After posting these, I'm outta here. Its almost 3:30am and I'm tard !!!

You should have no problem telling the difference between the funky filthy core and the new builder. Hard to beleive the funky trans case has been thru the vat for 3 cycles and the other hasn't even been vatted yet.

Iv been cleaning a pair of 305 heads and eyeballing that 350 on the stand. Thanks again

Things happen for a reason, and you are right, with the combo of advantages from both cores, you're gonna have the best of all features in this one. The modern benefits along with the old benefits that GM changed to save money and made the trans weaker. So you're gonna have the best of the old and new. I do hope to get it together ASAP, but another set back today, and I may need to be at my dads 70 miles east of here by Tuesday. He had a little accident today with a gun and shot hisself in the leg. He's going to be OK, but he's gonna need some help for awhile and his wife is in AZ visiting for the Christmas holiday already.

I'll be working on it all I can. Just getting home tonight, 1am after working all day, then gonig to my bro's to pull a motor. Then I remembered you said my hoist don't work. So we have to rent a hoist in the morning and I work tommorow afternoon. Just tied up trying to get him some transportaion for work, me working, and getting ready for my son to be here the day after Christmas for a week, now this with my dad too, and I have to go out there Tuesday to take him for follow up Dr appt. He is about out of pain meds, trying the stretch them out so he's in alot of pain and can't get any more pain meds til he sees his family doc. Here is a link to a thread of what he did.
