Yes, that bolt was hell. I worked at it for quite some time, cussing that guy you bought it from the whole time. LIAR, and dumbass has it sitting outside to get this much mud and water in it. I did walk away from it several times and jumped on another project to get something else accomplished. I get pretty damn frustrated when things don't get done, and you can't be in that frame of mind building transmissions. Moreso on assembly though. You start fighting with lip seals in drums and that's how you tear up seals and then have clutch pack leaks and not know it until after the trans is installed. I was more in fear of damaging the case than anything. I can come up with an extra center support but not a Chevy 400 case. It was a big relief worth celebrating when I heard that, SNAP and those threads let go. LMAO, no you won't get this bolt at Ace Hardware. You see the shape of the head on the new one, and you don't see the fluid passage hole that runs down the center of the bolt. Which I am glad it had. That was a big help in drilling the bolt the 2 times I did to get the easy out in. I just checked status on the parts. They shipped today. I thnk the only expenses left is the shift kit, and having the case cleaned to get the mud out of it.

Yeah, you still have a bit of credit here with you left, that will cover the case getting cleaned at the trans shop I hope. I'd like to get it there Monday for sure, and maybe pick it back up Monday afternoon or Tues morning, then the parts should be here by Wednesday. Hopefully, if things go right, you can pick it up Thurday. That bolt was a big delay, and then having to order parts out of state too since OTS wanted to be buttheads. $50 will cover the kit. Uhh yeah, I'm sure you'll like and I don't think you'll be breaking this one, and a helluva deal too. I am getting ready to leave and won't be back til about 10pm, but if you are coming this way you can drop funds off. Not sure which truck I am driving yet, but I know it won't be the white 4x4 in the driveway, so if you want to drop anything off, just put in under the driver seat of the white truck. No need to make a special trip though.

I know I have to many projects in the works at the moment. Way to many things going on and burning candles at ends I didn't know they had. Yours is on the priority list though. Its in the way now, and I have a complete trans ready for rebuild sitting on the bench now too, and I don't wanna tear it apart until yours is done. Yours may not work well with 700r4 parts mixed in with it. LOL No doubt, it'll get all the good parts in it. If its gonna have my name on it, I don't want it breaking prematurely and screw up my perfect record so far that I am aware of. When people don't come back, except to have another built, you know you're doing them right. You can stop by if you want tonight, I'll be finishing tearing yours apart. I work all day Saturday, and off Sunday but will busy on my projects and my brothers motor build. As soon as I get yours done, I start my 700r4 build for the 85 K1500, I think. I might just have to do a stock rebuild to get the thing running and will do all the upgrades when funds permit. A 700r4 needs alot more done to it, so the parts add up quick to about $600 or so, when parts for a stock rebuild are about $100. Also, I am hoping when I open it up, I'll find it has been rebuilt before and some of the hard parts have already been upgraded. :fingersx: I know alot of them won't but maybe at least The Beast and Corvette Servo have been done, and maybe some boost valves. I know the sleeving of the input drum will not have been done, the Z pak you upgrade even if its in there, cuz its a pack of thinner cluthes and steels, where you get 14 clutches in a pack that normally has 5 or 6. Big differance in strength in the 3-4 clutch pack. Also going to beef up other servos so that I can use OD while towing or pulling heavy weight if I wanna, and also the pump vanes and rotor too. So you see, you made the right choice on the 400. Look at what you are getting for $400 plus the $100 to buy the core and the strength you're getting.

Hey Allen, just an update. You remember that servo pin that was stuck in the case for the rear band??? I finally got it out today just before I left the house. I ended up cutting the band out of the case, then hammering the pin all the way thru into the case. You should have seen that thing. It wasn't gonna come out even with all the heat I put on it. It was so corroded and rusted, there was no way it was coming out. But, I did finally get. So needless to say, the case didn't get to the machine shop for a bath today. It goes in the morning.

I still got the 2 bands, the spiral snap ring and the shift kit to get. The parts have not showed up yet either. Still hoping for today, but its no rush now since my guys at the trans shop I used to take cases to get cleaned, they are no longer there and they no longer build transmssions there. They just sub out the builds and do R&R now. So I had to drop the case off with Bert, and he does not fire up the aluminum vat everyday, and it takes like 4 hours to heat up the solvent. So I dropped it off this morning, he says he has some aluminum parts to do tomorrow and will put the case in with them and have it cleaned by tomorrow afternoon. Kinda sucks but that is what happens when you go so long wo building one. You lose your connections. But, I know Bert, and he will do a good job on it. He charges $25 just to turn the vat on. Can't blame him though, the solvent is expensive, and ass loads of elecricity to heat it up and run the high pressure pumps. I think I introduced you to Bert at Moore Machine. That's where the case is now.
