Hey guys I am looking to get darker tint, I have factory tint on my back windows (3) and I have factory "matched" tint on my front two windows.

My GF is getting her Cobalt Tinted next Friday (20%) and he quoted me $155 to do all 5 windows with 20% tint over my already factory tint.

How dark do you think that'll equal out to? He won't do 5% tint like I want due to the fact it's illegal  (Understood)

Thoughts?

If you take what the window says the factory tint % is and multiply the old to the new it will give you what it will be like. My rear factory tint is 35% I believe.

GM factory tint is ~18-20% so I'm assuming Ford is similar. If you are going to have 20% applied over that (that is a good price BTW), you should be close to 5%.

Here is a couple crappy pics of my wife's ride with 20% applied over the factory tint. It's actually took dark for my taste but she likes it.

20% on the front sides will get you tickets (or stopped at the worst times) if it's illegal there. Cops know how to play the game. Different areas enforce this more than others. I've always run 5% over the OEM tint and 35% on the front two. No laws broken and it looks great while making it tough to see in.

Any darker than 20 on the sides is just plain stupid at night. You can't see chit.

I am not willing to invite the hassle any more.

Looks like SC laws are tighter than Texas law.

It definitely varies by area. Fortunately the cops in the last few places we've lived in haven't cared about 20% tint (despite anything under 35% being illegal).

Yip. I was able to get away with it for years... until Texas started inspecting tint as part of their annual inspection. Too much hassle to replace it every year.

Yeah I'd be in the same boat if that was the case.

However, Arkansas doesn't even require inspections. We live in a redneck state.
