AZ is no joke. Guns and legal wheeling!! i love to visit

I see people packing side arms frequently. It's legal here to have one on you at all times but establishments can ask you to not carry in their business....some businesses openly advertise that carrying is welcome.

I have seen some bikes (Harleys etc) with holsters that keep the gun right on the side of the bike near the seat etc.

Had to look for a pic but this is legal in AZ. Not sure if the bullets are legal there or not?

That makes AZ even more appealing. I wonder what the person on person crime is like there being since the carry laws are not as strict as other places. It is hard to lug some one who is packing. The biggest hang up I have with AZ is the desert and heat. I get that the whole state is not a desert but from the topagrphic maps I have been looking at most of it is. So that tells me the areas I would most likely want to live in AZ will be way outside of my price range. Now I obviously have never been there so this is all speculation so I would love to hear some facts that may counter what my research has told me.

Wish I could help but outside of where I live about 40 minute drive from Tucson is MT Lemon. When it's a 100 in Tucson MT Lemon is 75 in the heat of the day.

Not sure if it's a town but there is place on the mtn called Summer haven.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Lemmon

There are areas I have seen that I think are pretty at pretty good elevation. like Flagstaff and Pine Top.

I have only lived here since Jan 2012 so I no expert. I can say that Tucson stays about 5-10 deg cooler than most of the lower desert regions of the state like say Yuma, Phoenix, Tempe. There are some areas the MTn areas that are pretty damn nice.

Home prices around Tucson and maybe MT Lemon? You can look at http://www.tarmls.com

When you go to that website MT Lemon is in the back drop you see behind down town Tucson. The other thing is if your in Ga 100 deg days here are much different than what your used too!!! Honestly a 100 deg day here feels like 80-85 where I came from in Arkansas and your still not breaking a sweat going to the mail box. I can work on my Camaro in the garage during the day with a fan on, door open and drinking water for hours. When I was in South Arkansas an hour or two and I was done and soaked to the bone in sweat!!

Ohh and no mosquitoes or tornadoes!!! We can get a pretty good thunderstorm here though!!

Crime....I can't say it much different than most any other place. We are somewhat close to the boarder maybe 60 miles?? I don't watch the news on daily basis but the crime seems lower here that what I would hear about watching the news from Little Rock or Shreveport La.

Odd thing about this place is it seems to have a lot of car accidents and hit an runs......just something I notice when watching the news :dunno:

I would say check out Montana as well. I was stationed there for only a year but it was beautiful. The winters are a little rough (only went through one) but the summers and spring are great. Hunting and Fishing everywhere up there. The only bad thing I would say is that most of the land is owned by someone BUT the people never had a problem if you asked them for permission to hunt, fish, or explore. Cost of living was pretty cheap (I was in the Great Falls area) if I remember correctly (but I lived on base) and it's pretty desolate in most places. My wife hated it there but I had a blast! Plus at least you're closer to Canada and Alaska:D

You know, another area to check out (and it isn't far from you) is Northern Alabama. I always wanted to check out that area but never got around to it. Uncle SAM never let me get stationed there.

I really wanted to head out there. But the wife wants to stay some what close to her family. North Bama is nice, so is north Ga.
