I am cool with anything Domestic but.... My Dodge Dakota was a massive pile of shit. The 07 Sierra I had was about the most boring lame vehicle ever, kinda like it was designed specifically for old men. My in laws have a 09 F250 I have driven several miles and it wins the truck competition hands down. Having driven several super duty fleet trucks in all configurations in different environments and will say they are very hard to kill.

Im a ford guy as long as we are talking newer Fords, but I do enjoy the classic body styles of their trucks just not the stupid bar suspension nonsense. I like older GM, not impressed with the new stuff at all. I had 2 Dakota trucks and learned my lesson about Mopar.

I am not really brand loyal at all, I have had Dodge, GMC/Chevy, Ford, Mazda, and Nissan trucks, along with numerous other brands of cars. I have probably had more experience with the GM trucks, so I am somewhat more comfortable with them, but I also know a lot of the bad things about them that seem to be recurrent issues. I tend to purchase based on what my needs are at the time I am buying, and what kind of good deals I can find.

You're definitely not brand loyal. Perhaps non-committal . . .

:rollin:

:jester:

Two Dodges and a Suzuki later, I guess I still fall in the non-committal category!

I've not read all 8 pages of this thread but I'm loyal to GM mainly because that's what I grew up with. My dad and both grandpa's always drove GM (car and truck) so that's what I've always bought and driven too  I like to give my friends who drive other brands a hard time but it's all in good fun and they know it. All the major truck brands have both their positives and negatives. Unless catastrophe strikes I'll probably always be loyal to GM but I'm not naive enough to think that Ford, Dodge and the others don't have great things to offer and sometimes those things are superior to that of GM :)

How about you Ford guys? :dunno:

I love my Ford, so does my girlfriend and her dad and her grandfather. I grew up in a toyota pickup and a mazda. when I was a kid I heard a ford power stroke diesel and remembered it, whenever I played with my legos or matchbox cars I would make the sounds of that truck...my dad bought the f150 when I was 13, we took it out every body scout trip and it never let us down. when I turned 16 I got it to go to and from school, all the chicks loved trucks..duh its high school, now theyre all giddy about glittering princess vapires  I took it everywhere, got into the forums and started modding it, my moms stock suburban has has more problems than mine and we have had hers since it was new. my grandfather worked for GM almost 40 years so we get a pretty decent discount..but I love my ford, its personalized to my likings, alot of years/time/money has gone into it and Im happy.

If someone offered me any domestic truck I wouldn't turn it down but when it comes to picking one I'm a fan of I would say Ford has my vote but only by a small margin. GMC and Chevy are nice but I'm not a fan of the newer body styles I absolutely love the 04-08 f150s and after my dad drove my 04 f150 is when he decided to trade in our sequoia for a 2010 f150 for my mom. Now he's constantly debating either paying off his 05 silverado or buying a used f250 for his work rig.

I wasn't really raised on one specific brand so I can say when I started my search for my first truck I was definitely open minded, but comparing base models (what I could afford) I really didn't like the cheaper look the 07s (I think that's what I looked at) had on the silverados. Dodge was on the list but it was about that time that my brother started telling my about all his problems with his 1500. I found an f150 2 hours away from my house with 104k for 10,500 and after driving it I couldn't say no. I loved the feel of the truck and how nice it looked despite the miles.

Now that I've downgraded to a corolla and ranger, I still gotta say that I like the ranger which is a 99 over the s10s and even the Colorados. The only other style I would have given a chance was a dakota but they go for a decent amount around here and I didn't have the cash.

I would say as far as a straight answer goes for the question of between being a fanboy or being a consumer who does their research I'm probably half and half.
Given cash to buy any truck out there right now I would probably head straight to ford for a new raptor, but because of my curiosity I might still make time to test drive a power wagon and ram runner.

Would have to be a Chevy or GMC....
I don't think I would be happy with anything else.

I'm not a die-hard fanboy, but if I were on the market for an American truck I'd still rather get a Chevy because their engines fare better with the low-quality fuels available back here than Ford trucks do, and are also less sensible to lower-grade lube oils. My family, from both dad's and mom's sides, always had more GM (rebadged versions of Opel cars, a few S10s, Pontiac Trans Sport and a Blazer) vehicles than Ford ones, and the majority of the Fords from relatives of mine actually had Renault engines (which are not bad at all)...
