So I have the whipple installed now and have been driving it around, drove it today probably 400 miles across the state back to school, and I have noticed that under full throttle it doesn't want to shift from first to second very quick. It sounds like it keeps revving at the limiter for a second or two and doesn't want to shift and then it bangs into second and takes off again. Its running a westers tune and no shift kit or anything, the shift speed and firmness is all in the tune. I think it does the same thing but not as noticeable under full throttle from 2nd to 3rd. Other than that though it feels fine, I think the belt may be slipping a little in the higher RPMs but I can probably tighten up the bolted/permanent tensioner a little. It sure hauls though when it hooks up! I caught good traction from a stop one time and it did actually shift like normal and it woke me up. Very impressed. Its really obvious there is a ton of torque.

My first thought was a TPS, but with a super charger, I don't know.

My first thought is that it's in the tune and may need an adjustment. I know mine runs a different set of shift tables for WOT.

Has it ever worked properly since the tune and supercharger added? My first guess would also be a tune tweek since it doesn't have a TV Cable.

I'll agree with these guys. My first instinct is tune issue. Especially since it is shifting fine else where. I would check with Wester and see what they think.

One other thing. I would stop doing WOT runs if it is shifting like that. Otherwise we will have to change your user name to Blown4L80E.

unhook your battery for a few minutes and try it again, my truck did that way back in the day with the superchips tune, i had beenn driving it very conervative for a week or so and the first time i went to haul ass the trans seemed confused and held up on the 1-2 shift, i unhooked the battery and tried it again, it was good after that.

Easy to try to see if thats all it is. if that doesn`t get it a tune tweak is in order. :(

What your running into is a old transmission with more power thrown at it.
Suck it up and realize your going to need an OVERHAUL!!! :ohnoes:

What is happening has nothing to do with not shifting. The transmission is actually shifting, but doesnt make enough fluid pressure to lock the clutches up. It's shifting, but slipping at the same time.
If you keep doing that, you'll burn it up! Untill you get funds for a good rebuild, just back peddle when its time to shift and things should last a little longer.

Haha Ok I will back off on it for a while. I will get in touch with Westers and see what they think. I just spent my life savings on building it I don't want to rebuild the tranny now!
