i have the harbor freight special. does the job and its cheap enough to not worry about replacing it if it breaks.

How do you know what find of wire to use with a soldiering gun? How do you use a soldiering a gun besides plugging it in to heat up. I got one that was dads but dont know how to use it. When I replace all speakers and speaker wire in my truck I wanna soldier it all together.

You will need solder and flux. You can do it without flux, but it helps it stick better. Basically a kit like this: http://www.amazon.com/Bernzomatic-P...ower-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1322145172&sr=1-4

Then when you're ready, twist the wires together you want to solder.

Get then gun hot, and put flux on the exposed wires.

Hold the gun on the exposed wires to get them hot. Slowly touch the solder to the exposed wires and if it is hot enough it will melt right into the wires. Let it cool (only takes seconds) then wrap it with electrical tape.
