just curious but any reason for parking the 4wd? trying to keep it decent?
Yep. Since you're from Mass, you know the joys of knowing about a nasty, white, rock-like substance called SALT that eats away at paint and then the steel / aluminum underneath it.

Holy ninja edit, that's not what it said last time I read it

That's how we roll in WI. I'm doing the same parking my 4x4 to drive a mercury tracer.

The is his baby, he wants to keep it nice.
:werd: The '98, aka K1500 aka Silverado (even though pre-99 it was used as a package, not as the vehicle itself) is my pride and joy. It might look pretty nice from the outside (minus the bottoms of the doors), but underneath isn't quite as nice. I'm hoping that next year I can start working on a few things and then in the distant future restore the entire truck (I know its only 12yrs old, but I can still restore it).

I don't mean to be an A-hole, but could you use some punctuation and capital letters in your posts? It just makes it easier to read.

By the headlights in your avatar, I'd say you have a 90's F150. For my truck, the doors are notorious for rusting on the bottoms. There's only a few that I've seen that don't have at least some rust running along the bottoms.

I actually have 2 doors in my dad's basement that I bought to repair. I got 3 quotes from body shops to fix my current doors and they were from $1,100 to $1,500 (there are actually holes in the bottoms and everyone wants to cut the bottom 4" off and weld on new sections). So I bought the doors for $300 and am hoping they will be cheaper to fix.

My mom jokes that I'm building a truck in her basement, but the parts are actually in 3 locations. 2 doors in my dad's basement, a hood in his garage, and a tailgate (totally rust free inside and out) in my mom's basement.

Meh just drive it.
If I were the original owner and had the underside coated, I would and then I'd wash the exterior every week. There's a guy that lives 2 blocks from me. I finally asked him, randomly and never meeting him before in my life, how he kept his truck so clean and rust free. His response was washing it every week in the winter even if it didn't really need it. And to my amazement, he's the 2nd owner of it, but bought it 2yrs old.
