Oil Filters is always one of the "subjects" that can get people edgy, for fwonk sakes its a filter!

With all due respect, your kidding Mr. Amsoil! Are you actually saying that a Fram filter somehow did some kind of mechanical damage to the engine that caused it to burn oil, and then the mechnical damage somehow "repaired" itself after switching to another filter? I am a ASE master tech who has been building engines of all kinds in my shop for over 30 years. What your saying defies the laws of physics. Please do not spread misinformation. If you could possibly offer a shred of explanation about how an oil control ring or valve guide/seal could be damaged by an oil filter to the point of increased oil consumption, and then it is repaired by another brand of oil filter to the point of no longer using oil, I would love to hear it. Whats in the WIX filter, engine rebuild in a can?
I never said that the filter caused any damage. I definitly don't know why oil cunsumption went up while the fram filter was in use and then settled down after they were switched back.
I mearly stated my visual facts from when I changed the oil on these vehicles. I used the same brand/weight oils, just a different filter when this was done. These are not my vehicles, and I have no idea what these people due once they leave my drive way. As I said in my original post, I never ran any lab test, so I have no other documentation to back up the increased wear/use. All I know is everything appeared to return to normal on the next oil change. I'll let you know if anything is different when one of these vehicles return.

Oh, if WIX made a rebuild in a can, I'll take a case.

As for the laws of physics...you must of never heard of Murphys Law....:D2

. Now- I am telling all of you you should be asking whatever filter company you like to send you results of ISO4548-12 filter tests. We publish these results on our website. www.fram.com. I will post a lengthly post monday explaining how you inerpret this test. I am also going to post a letter with contact info I just got from a guy who has a 2002 S10 pickup, been using FRAM since new, has 410,000 miles and is running great and not using oil.:D2

Now this was posted February 3rd of 2010. Has Monday came yet??? :dunno: I'm guessing maybe 50 Mondays have gone by???

He's probably still "inerpreting" the tests. The ones that Fram does not publish on their site (at least so far as I can see, and I combed the whole site) despite what "Jay" claims. I'm ready to hoist the flag on this one...

TX, where else should I be?
I was kinda hoping to see motorcraft in there. We've been using the Ford Motorcraft on all of our trucks and haven't had any problem with them.

We also use FRAM on the tractor. No problem there either.

FRAM has gotten a bad rap. You seem to hear more about how someone has used them and that the filter took a turn for the worst and it ruined their engine. The main issue here is that I would say by far FRAM is the most widely used oil filter and so the odds of a faulty one making it to the market are great compared to others. As usual anything bad will spread like wild fire on the net.

I was thinking the same thing.
