I think they should just pull everybody over and give them tickets. I'm sure we have broken some law by the time we back out of the driveway.:D

Sucks for the guy trying to appeal all that. Bet it cost him quite a bit more than a speeding ticket in the long run. He should have STFU and taken his losses.

Thats fucked up. How can they "guess" how fast you are going? Here they can pace you, but not just give a random "guess". :dunno:

We have got to think about this logically and stop relying on technology, how do you think they handed out speeding tickets prior to radar guns? Police officers are highly trained individuals they can spot a speeder without a radar.:D

I hear a lot of sarcasm and hate toward the poe-poes in this thread. How hard is it to see that a vehicle is doing 20 MPH over the posted speed limit? It's NOT that hard. As a future LEO I had to go through this certification in speed estimation and it really isn't that hard to figure out speeds of vehicles. I don't think a cop should base all of his tickets on visual estimation but when you are out there day in day out and know your beat very well, you get a feel for how fast cars are going.

I have to respectfully disagree.
Sometimes you just have to "STAND UP" and fight for what you "BELIEVE"
Win, lose or draw...it just needs to be done...:)

HOORAY for the guy that fought it...

I'd think that there would be fewer cops than one might think certified to make speed assumptions like this... you cant put a cop out on the field just out of training and expect it to hold up in court.... if so then I need to stay away from my home town and the entire state. I'd get screwed there.

They should have mandated that all officers make a log of there speed estimations vs radar... if they are in the higher 80-85% of accuracy over a course of 4-5 years then certify them... but this is not something that should be Fucked around with over technology....

X2!! That ruling gives far too much power to the police officer. Basically they can now write tickets without having to provide any evidence of the crime other than "That's what I saw". It's too easy to apply the same logic to other crimes and say, "well, it works for speeding, and the officer was "trained" to spot the crime, therefore you're guilty, no trial needed."

I'd hate to be someone that, that Cop doesn't like.

You could end up with a lot tickets just because "he said" you were speeding.
