My 3 year kobalt just kicked bucket this evening when was swapping out front bumpers on my 97k1500. So if I only got 3 years out $30 kobalt air impact wrench that got about dozen times then Kobalt is not brand I'll buy again all its going to crap out every 3 years on there $30 impact wrench.

It will be used on 10 gallon, 90PSI, 4.2 Cfm air compressor. Though about going with either sears/crafstman, husky(home depot), or Kawasaki brand.

IR Is the best on the market. Thats the only impact gun I will use. All the brands have their own IR gun including craftsman. The se3rial # will start with IR.

I've actually got a couple of the $70 Craftsman impact guns (the cheapest one they have). I paid $30 for one, and the other came in a pack with a 3/8" air ratchet for $30. Bought both on Black Friday 1yr apart. I have yet to use it, but just wanted to let you know what they go on sale for.

It was $30. I wouldn't have expected much more out of it. Did you oil it ever over those three years of sitting?

I like my Blue Point. It's been pretty solid.

30 bucks for three years? That actually sounds about right. You get what you pay for. A good higher quality impact wrench will run about 100$ or more.

And like T mentioned, oiling it with air tool oil is very important. ESPECIALLY if you do not have an air/water separator on your compressor.

Loew's has a sale of a 18 volt impact and drill driver for $199.95 that's two drivers to me that's a good deal. My son-in-law said his Harbor frieght impact has done him right.

Maybe thats what went wrong. I dont remember ever oiling. Might just go ahead and buy another $30 kobalt and keep oiling it before or after using it this time.
