Thanks. Wheels came off today. Truck has too many damn problems to be driving it in its condition. They can sit in the garage while I work on the truck.
I'll be buying some 17's from Jarrod next week, but they will need new tires. I'd like to have them as a backup set so I can alternate from 22's to 17's.
The front Axle seals are leaking
AGAIN, I changed them out I would guess last spring, and they did good a while, but here they go again.
The front of the truck is too low, so low they cant align it. This has caused my new tires up front to wear on the inside. It needs a bushing kit to get it back into specs.
When I removed the overload springs out back, it dropped it an inch, but it put the looped crossmember over the driveshaft dangerously close to the driveshaft, when I hit a large bump the shaft scrapes the cross member. This will eventually cut it in half.
The tires are too 'low-pro'. They have minimal sidewall and the driverside has a soft bump on the inside sidewall of the tire from I'm assuming a pot hole.
The rear gears are SHOT. I blew up the factory G80 at the track, we stuck in a new (used) carrier, and it makes a loud clanking sound when you let off the gas. Plus the cover is leaking, but thats just a gasket issue.
THE PLAN
Re-install the overloads in the rear. This will get the crossmember away from the shaft again.
Re-crank the front of the truck, this will bring it back into alignment specs.
Buy new gears for the rear diff. While at it, fix cover leak.
Replace front drive axle seals, again
Get the 17's from Jarrod, and buy new tires.
If I do jack the truck back up and put the 17's on the truck with the new tires, this is what the truck will look like. And this is the exact height it will be. It will be align-able and wont scrape the driveshaft anymore.
Then I plan on buying a taller tire for my 22's. This will allow me to run my 22's but the taller tires will fill the fender gaps and let it ride better, and be safer for the wheels.
Here is some pics from today.
Crossmember and driveshaft
C-notch out back, notice how low the rear gets. You can tell by the bolt that goes through the leafs is denting the hell out of the bed support. Its like this on both sides.
As it sits now, and will be sitting.
