Thank you. Well I held back on the gears today....Damn I just cant seem to decide what I want first.
I NEED gears. My current G80 is on its way out, the pinion gear is fubared.
I NEED a driveshaft....was told I could just get a two piece out of a two wheel drive and have it cut down to fit.
I NEED a trans, I've got several options....Either build mine for about $2,000......or buy a friends Performabuilt level 2 that needs new clutches and input and output shaft and have all that fixed.....about $2,000.....OR buy a performabuilt or FLT level 5 for $2500. and be done with it.
I have another LS1, from a buddy....its a longblock and by the looks of it it has low miles, judging by small buildup in intake ports, not a lot of soot in exhaust ports, and internals look good.....turned it over by the crank and she has good compression....supposedly has about 60,000 miles...
Its sitting in the garage right now waiting for a transmission and a cam....
So many things to do.
And of course heres my other ls1 block.....its for sale btw...

J-rod....looks like I have a plan now. Giving 1300 for the motor next Wednesday. Then buying a new level 5 tranny, then I'll worry about the small things such as cam, maybe heads, gears and driveshaft......also doing a little bit to the transfer case.

Gears are next for me, maybe order them week after next. I have to go on a little cruise in the Gulf next week so I won't be around to order.

Paid $700 on the motor....owe 6.....but I had to put a few hundred toward my dd.
This ls1 seems strong. Got a truck pan for it. Need a 5.3 pickup tube but got a lead on that. Bought a new oilpan gasket.
Called FLT and they said give em $1350 down and they'll build me a level 6 and then I can pay them the other $1350 when it's done.
Called our local driveshaft man, said if I found a 2wd extended cab w 2 piece driveshaft he'll cut it down and balance it for a little over $100. Found a 2 piece out of an 04 x-cab but they want $200 for it....gonna see if I can do better.
Like i I said I been foolin with the '85 dd, new heater core, fixing windshield washer lines, tryin to locate the correct ac lines for it....
