the '01 and the '85
007-23.jpg
Why was the '85 pulling the '01?

Still lovin' the project.

What are your plans for the engine bay/performance?
It wasnt pulling it, the '01 was pulling the '85 out of the awning lol. the motor was out of the '85

I redid my engine bay and I'll have pics in a sec, and I'll have my future plans posted up as well
Ahhhh....that makes more sense. Whew, that was a close one!

I pulled the intake to replace the knock sensors and was freaked out by how much buildup there was under there. So I cleaned it all up, replace sensors and harness, and while I had it all apart I pulled everything I could pull out and had it painted.

Heres pics.

Stock engine bay.

cleaned it up. loosened rockers so valves would close, filled intake ports up with solvent, let sit, scrubbed with brush, sucked all the main stuff out with shop vac, pulled spark plugs and turned the motor over a few times to push out any fluid that got in the cylinders, then tightened it all back up. scrubbed the hell out of the motor. New harness and sensors.

Here is with my homemade CAI...of course it doesnt have the "hump" that other intake tubes have so the radiator hose wont fit under it, and barely above it. So its heating that aluminum tube up and its more of a hot air intake right now lol. anyways I'm considering my options on how to fix it.

then of course there is the dynatech stainless headers and 3" duals I had welded up (not pictured)....

had them welded up today and I only have like 2 night shots of the headers in the bay.

Thats pretty much where I stand!

I have a parts list from my transmission guy on everything I need to buy to make that tranny virtually bulletproof (for what I want to do) and I'll be buying those items a little at a time, and then we'll bust her open and swap em in.

I need a trutrac, and I'm thinking of doing 4.56's.

The LS1 is on the back burner until I get the rearend and tranny done, then I'll put her together. I want a good set of heads and a nice fat cam, I'll keep the truck intake. I'd like to build it for spray, and I'd like to see low/mid 11's in this thing on a 150 shot or close to that.

Thanks for looking! I'll be updating this thread every so often, or whenever I get an update lol

Excellent work Nick!!!!!

Love what you did with the engine bay , nice touch to detail!!!!

What did you paint the Alt with? I was going to replace mine with a polished/chrome one, but they want like $500...I'll pass right now

Engine bay looks amazing! With that said, why green valve covers when you have gotten rid of the brake calipers and sticker on the window?
