The shorty filter will be used only for doing the break-in ... After that's done and over the High in Zinc break-in oil will be drained out, fresh oil and the 2 qt filter will be in play ...

Since the truck has been lifted, got all kinds of room for that monster oil filter ..

Assembly is going pretty dang good on the C-10 496" engine build ...

Installed the cam & bearings ..

Rotating assembly been balanced ..

Got the crank sitting in the block ..

May be seeing a problem with the Milodon's windage tray studs being too long, their keeping the oil pan from bolting down ..

Will get back to fixing that problem later, wanting to get the rods/pistons in so the fit of the crankshaft oil scraper can be achieved ...

It's time consuming work dealing with Hot-Rod performance parts ...

Been busy on the 496"

Sat the crank in and checked the clearances on the mains .. Got a little over 0.002" ... Main cap bolts torqued to 110, crank spins real nice ..
Crank oil scraper was a PITA to fit ..

Mounted the windage tray, some fitting was needed to get the oil pan sitting flush on the block ..

Waiting on a special tool to show up that drives the oil pump pickup tube into the pump .. Was going to use a open end wrench to beat it in ...
But I had some built up speed points with Summit Racing that paid for the tool ..
Cost was just a few bucks out of pocket ..
Progress is going down with the motor block coming together ..
Once it's in one chuck, I'll get back on the heads ..
Got a new intake coming from Weiand that's made for the Peanut Port heads ..
