Got the vacuum gauge done, looks brand new for 60 year old stuff ..

Just about got all the parts for the dashboard, still need to order the wiper switch adapter so a stock IH knob can be used ..

Had a problem with the clear coat ... A few spots clouded up, tried to sand them out but broke though the woodgrain ..

Sooooo, get to do it all over again ... Eek !

Humidity did it ....
Here in Florida we been seeing a afternoon shower for the past 6 weeks ...

90 to 95 % humidity is common ... Guess I will wait for a day that's 70 % or less to try again ..
( That will give me time to sand, shoot another base coat and print the pattern on )

That's as far forward the shifter will go, it's in the four wheel Low mode ...

I was shooting windage with the location of the transfer case shifter ...

If I had mounted the transfer shifter much further forward I would have needed a shorter stick or redo the location on where I mounted the shifter onto the transmission support bracket ...

Pretty much nailed it ...

More behind the dash work ..

Getting the power unit mounted up ..

Kind of needed to do power on the cowl vent ..
After doing a test fit on the A/C pod gave no room to get a hand on the vent handle ...

Well, so much for me thinking this would be easy ..
Dang windshield wiper stuff is taking up a lot of space that the power vent hardware needs to function ... More thought and fab work on my part is needed to go down ..
The arm that I made up needs two inches of swing ...

Got it working ...
Took some throw out of the motor's arm, really didn't need the full 2" that it came with ..

Thanks

Glad you'll are enjoying the build thread ..

Be awhile before the color gets laid on ..
Got a world of work yet to do ..

One huge chore that's still in a box is a new aftermarket wiring harness ..

View attachment 7718

Back when the body swap was done I used the harness from the Jimmy donor truck ... It uses glass fuses ..
Since I have installed many more electric accessories thought was to upgrade to a more modern box with more circuits ..

It was ordered to fit the 75 GMC ..

Wanting to clean up the firewall a lot ..
Running the wiring down low and though this ...

View attachment 7719

Might help the firewall look ..

So many electric upgrades are on the table ..

Taillights was one ..
Wanted better lighting back there .
The taillights came off of the 68 908-B that I had ..
(And the Bumper)

Stock 1157 bulbs was in use, I wanted to be seen so some redo in that area went down ..

First off was to retire the og lens .. They were badly weather-checked ...

View attachment 7721

Re-pops worked, added blue dots and some kick-ass hot bulbs !

View attachment 7722

New sockets also was on the upgrade list ..

View attachment 7723

Man, those Hot bulbs are indeed bad-ass ...

View attachment 7724

This photo is just the tail lights on ..
On the right side is the 1157 ... Left side is the Bad-ass !!

Backup lights got the Hot bulb treatment too ..
Man, that is an awesome build! My family was 100% IH when I was growing up on the farm. 20/20 hindsight wish I had grandpa's 1947 flat bed pickup and/or his 1939 2 ton flat bed. Question: What are these hot bulbs you are using? That is a new one on me.

Thanks, making slow progress with it ...

Yeah those tail light bulbs kicks out some light ...
Think I got them from Speedway Motors .. ??

Ad said not to use them in tail lights with plastic lens, good chance they would melt !

Here's a good one ...

Don't see many IH R Serie trucks around anymore ..
They was made from 1953 to 1955 ... 1954 was the first year for the 100 model ...

s-l1600 (2).jpg

Yesterday made a road trip to Harbor Freight in Ocala for a set of hole transfer punches ...
Needed them to finish the install of the power vent's motor bracket ..

On the way back there's a monster of a speed shop that I've been pasting by for years ..
This time I pulled in to slight see ...

Two huge buildings, one was where the magic was done and the other was the showroom with about 40 super slick cars & trucks in it ..

When I stepped foot in the door right up front and dead center was my truck, so to speak, same year and model ... Bone stock with only 1,800 showing on the clock ..
( I dang near soiled me knickers )

It was for sale $25 grand ..
looked like it just had rolled out the factory doors yesterday !!
