Fellow asked me what color I was painting it ?

Told him it came from the factory Red .
I painted it the Oem code years back, thought to keep it red ..
But not the Binder red this time around ..

Going with a Mopar color ..
Called "Hi Octane"



Lots of pearl in the mix ...

Well ... It's still Red !

Be awhile before the color gets laid on ..
Got a world of work yet to do ..

One huge chore that's still in a box is a new aftermarket wiring harness ..



Back when the body swap was done I used the harness from the Jimmy donor truck ... It uses glass fuses ..
Since I have installed many more electric accessories thought was to upgrade to a more modern box with more circuits ..

It was ordered to fit the 75 GMC ..

Wanting to clean up the firewall a lot ..
Running the wiring down low and though this ...



Might help the firewall look ..

So many electric upgrades are on the table ..

Taillights was one ..
Wanted better lighting back there .
The taillights came off of the 68 908-B that I had ..
(And the Bumper)

Stock 1157 bulbs was in use, I wanted to be seen so some redo in that area went down ..

First off was to retire the og lens .. They were badly weather-checked ...



Re-pops worked, added blue dots and some kick-ass hot bulbs !



New sockets also was on the upgrade list ..



Man, those Hot bulbs are indeed bad-ass ...



This photo is just the tail lights on ..
On the right side is the 1157 ... Left side is the Bad-ass !!

Backup lights got the Hot bulb treatment too ..

The running board turned out looking better than I expected it to ..
First time dealing with bed liner .. !
After shooting the board had some leftover in the jug, didn't want to waste it.
Prepped the underside of the hood and shot it ..



Didn't topcoat it with clear like the board seen ..

That should keep the rust at bay .. Might be calling the bed liner "Super Undercoating" ..

Another mod that went down was the hood ornament ..

It's a 1947 Ford car ornament ..
Lets see what I can come up with ?

Hummmm ...
Chrome looking good ...
Not sure about the plastic insert ??

It's been glued in, og had two studs and speed nuts ..

Started on installing the overdrive trans today..

Got the NP 203 out, TH 400 will be out tomorrow ..
Years back I freshen up the transfer with new bearings and a chain..
Added a Mile Marker's output shaft at the time, done away with the full time 4x4 .. Converted to part time ..

Hadn't had any problems from it .. It's getting new lube and painted ....

Drive shafts ( And cross members ) will need mods since the 4L85E is 1-5/16" longer than the 400 .....

Thanks, my gearhead friends are egging me on to get it done so we can go play in the mud ..

I got news for them ...



My idea is to get all the grub off of it .. Not put it on, No Sir !



30+ years ago this looked like new ..
Soon to look that way again ..

The Binder won't be seeing much off-road action if any ..





That was the easy part of doing the TH400 to 4L80/85E trans ..



The hard part of the swap is coming up ..





And that's affording to do this ..

Do need to sell the 400, it's a K trans (Heavy-Duty case) that's been built with a world of upgrades ...
