Yeah, me too ... Lol

Been wanting to get the dashboard done ..
High humidity is keeping me from shooting the clear ..
For sure don't want that stuff to cloud up !

Still hadn't nailed down the VDO tach bezel ..
Waiting to hear back from So-Cal Speed Shop, got my fingers crossed ..

But, I have been busy working with the inner fenders prepping them for bed liner .. Decided to shoot the firewall with the bed liner too. Much more work to do in that area before they are ready to shoot ..

Got the wire harness fuse box yet to nail to the wall and mount the custom firewall billet wire pass though box ..

Slow go .. Chipping away at it ...

I just don't want to see you put this project on the back burner.

Do think Murphy is causing some problems ??
(It's either him or those mischievous Gremlins, little Bastards)

Went to heat up a spot on the firewall, grabbed my torch (Oxygen-Acetylene) ..
Well, Sir .. That didn't go so well ..
Oxygen regulator was singing a song "Ain't going to work on Maggie's farm No-Mo"

Bought this new bout 25+ years ago ... It was a high end torch at the time.. Two stage regulators ...
Served me well over the years ..
Got a rebuild kit coming, in the kit are some upgraded parts that has a better design than what was ..

( My bet is it was the Gremlins )

... ( Little bastards ) ...

How bout that ..
Was in the mist of filling some holes with the Mig and all of a sudden the wire stopped feeding ...
Opened the lid and the 11 lb spool of .035" wire was gone ..

Can't blame that one on the "Little Bastards" Lol

Went down to the place they call Ace and bought a 10 lb spool ..
Took over a year to use up that 11 lb spool, sure did see a world of welding on all four fenders that took most of the wire ... Bout 4 months went by making them up ...

The tech i ordered the regulator repair kit said that if I was to buy the same two stage regulator that I have would coat over $400 ...

Also said a replacement single stage could be had for around $100 ..
The repair kit was 20 bucks shy of the single stage ..

My decision to repair what I have was based on those 25
+ years of service ...

What's a hole ?

Here's a hot and sweaty job that I'm not all that fond of doing ..

1720648214500.png

Looking good ..

1720655740346.png

But not good enough for the bed liner just yet ..
Found a few spots that needs to be worked ..

Worked on the inner some more today ..
Had to do some more welding, another coat of primer will go on soon ..

Do believe I've hit all the bad spots .. We'll see how it looks after the second coat is laid on ...

Guess I shouldn't be so picky with my bodywork being it's under the hood ...
Although I do want it looking good under there ..

Been in the mode of nailing down a used Cadillac steering column ..
Needing some parts from it's guts to rebuild mine ..

This has turned into a chore .. !
The junkyards in my area don't have any 72 to 77 Caddy' due to those being a heavy car, they get mashed real fast ..

Found one in Nebraska out of a junker ..
Be a shot in the dark if the parts that I need are still usable ..
That one is not going to be cheap, still looking for one close to home so I could make a road trip to pick it up .

I just had to be building a off the wall truck using parts & pieces that are hard to come by ..

Edit;
Nailed down a 76 Eldorado column about a hour's drive from me ... Hopping that it'll have the needed parts still in serviceable condition, if not "Man Cave Wall Art" !

What was that Johnny Cash song about taking parts from the place he worked to build a car? :dunno:
