Are the vehicle all changed over yet?:)

Got the red truck switched, been taking my time and doin some other things as well. Took that damn oil filler neck off the 85, sick of that thing seeping oil all over the valve cover. Come to think of it, I took the one off the 01 too back when I painted the engine bay all up. For some reason they can't make a filler neck that doesn't leak.

Started the truck up and let it warm up....immediately noticed he valves didn't clatter near as much, weird I think because in theory using a thinner oil than conventional should make it clatter worse but idk....I'm reall happy with it, maybe it was just me but damn that truck runs smooth on some amsoil synthetic

Filling the suburban up as I speak (type) and I've been doing a little troubleshooting on some sort of leak it has, almost reminds me of a light brake fluid, doesn't look like trans or coolant but idk yet. Look into that later.

Bout to pull the 01 up and drain her...so far I haven't had to jack anything up but the 01 will have to be lol.

I didn't want to drain them all at one time in case of emergency. And I needed a car lol.

Good to hear man

My truck is running pretty smooth on it, although I can't remember a rough idle or anything before.

Well, got em all changed.

The '01:

Lost track of how long its been since I changed the Mobil 1, it was black as tar and the plug magnet had some soft buildup on it....I'm guessing I let it go 5-6K miles tops....But IDK. Kinda wondering about that buildup on the magnet, never had that before.

While I was under there, I noticed that the whole front suspension is COVERED in gear oil, from my leaking front axle seals. I have changed them before, when I first lowered the truck, but they are bad again. Everything is caked. I got to wondering, how much fluid is left in the diff if its leaking this bad? So I pulled the plug and a huge mass of thick grey substance plopped out, followed by a little gear oil, not much. The plug magnet is really badly covered in soft buildup. No chunks. Basically I let it get too low and it started to develop friction....so I cleaned the magnet, stuck the plug in, and filled it back up with the correct gear oil. I really need those 4.56's for the front and rear so I can change the seals while I'm there, but with this dang new house we may buy we are saving.

The Burb:

Drained the oil and refilled with the amsoil with no problems, took down the mileage....I've been wondering what the dang large spot on the pavement is everytime my wife leaves, its like a real light oil up by the front of the car. While I was under there changng oil, found my leak, and concluded it HAS to be a power steering leak, looks like its running right down the wire loom to the oil pan and blowing out the back of the car. :( One more thing to fix.

1985 silverado: Changed the oil, no problems, runs like a top on that Amsoil.

I had 3 quarts left over, I put one quart in each vehicle just in case it should be needed on the road and you cant buy amsoil on the shelf. None of my cars use oil but what the hell. I've even thought about buying another case and a few more filters to store at the house. :dunno:

All in all I'm Very pleased! Thanks again Nick!

My wifes car has had the Amsoil in it for over 6k miles now. I checked the dipstick almost two weeks ago and the oil looks like its brand new. I am very impressed with it. I would normally be changing it by now with the Mobil 1.

At almost 5300, I'm a 1/2 quart low, and it's a little on the dirty side. Of course, the truck has been run pretty hard the last couple of months. :dunno:
It's getting changed Sunday.
