Is 7500 the most miles you guys would wait to change? On the Amsoil website it says its good for 10k. Just wondering. Trying to understand the cost differences from dino to synthetic and decide if I want to switch. Pretty sure I am going to, but I'm a numbers guy....

Mitch,

Check out this thread. http://www.truckmodcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1959

Andy had his oil tested and Blackstone said it was still good and could go past 10k if he wanted to. Check out post 38. :)

Yeah I did get a sweet amsoil sticker

Scott I'm thinking 5,000 on the 85, simply because it's carb'd and idk what that does if anything to the oil. Doesn't run as efficient, so I'll drain it at 5,000 and get it tested. Then maybe the next time I'll be able to go longer.

The two 5.3's....probably 6-7500....they're used to synthetic

If I make the switch, I think I will stretch my current 5K to 7500, and send in a sample.

I have a few gallons of my Valvoline synthetic to get through.

I've always ran Mobil 1 to at least 5k before switching. I just didn't feel it was worth the money to go anything under. Engine has always ran fine and hasn't used much oil by then either. This is my first run on Amsoil so I'll try 6k maybe 7
