That's the cheapest and easiest way to go, yes. It'll sound just fine.

This is the only GMT400 panel I've seen with a tweeter location. Is this it?

Seems like very few actually had them. Even this one has the mesh but no actual tweeter.

Pull off the switch panel and take a look if this panel looks like your panel.

Go take a picture of your panel and post it, actually.

Looks just like yours except mine has other switch for passenger power window and controls for power side mirrors.

That's not my truck, Dave, but that does mean you have a convenient tweeter mounting location.

Pull your switch panel off like in the picture I posted and you'll be able to mount them right up.

It's a POS.

Do not wire that thing in with your new door speaks.

Get a coaxial speaker and move on.
What is a coaxial speaker? (never heard of that before) Is it different from a normal speaker?

I tried finding a component setup that would fit in the factory spot, but I was unsuccessful.

Coaxial is a regular speaker.

You should be able to mount a tweeter there no problem... Most are about 1" so you can do some drilling to the factory mount to fit the newer, larger tweeter

sent from Bolt Mobile Communications Unit

Huh?

A coaxial speaker has a tweeter. That is why I told him to ditch the crappy OEM tweeter
