Oh.

Buy an Alpine.

I second that I have a Alpine in my truck and I love it. Putting your CD's in a I-Pod to me is so much better to me I just stick my I-Pod in my glove box and forget about it.

When looking for a stereo look for one that you can play CD's from mp3 files and so on. You might even consider using one of those Roto cutters to place 6x9 speakers where the 4x6 are just go to town one the plastic trim so you won't have to remove them and break clips. When I replaced mine I bought some high dollar 4x6 speakers so I wouldn't mess with them in a long time and now I just run trieble on them since im running a 12" speaker in a box for my bass now.
Good luck! Roland

You guys were right on how crapy Sony got with there headunits. I went to car audio dealer and they dont even sell or install them for anybody. He did talk me to getting a pair 4x6's by Boston instead of the Pioneer which were priced the same at $80. So I'll go back and get Boston 4x6 speakers after the first of the year.

So looks like going Pioneer headunit and Boston 4x6 speakers. Undecided on what for the 6.5 front door speakers. Probably end up with Pioneer for $50. Boston 6.5 are $120.

Yes, there is a factory tweeter just in front of the power window/lock switches. I was unable to find an aftermarket speaker that would fit there. So you can either wire them in along with your new 6 1/2" speaker or leave them disconnected (like I did).

It's a POS.

Do not wire that thing in with your new door speaks.

Get a coaxial speaker and move on.

What is a coaxial speaker? (never heard of that before) Is it different from a normal speaker?

I tried finding a component setup that would fit in the factory spot, but I was unsuccessful.

Coaxial is a regular speaker.

You should be able to mount a tweeter there no problem... Most are about 1" so you can do some drilling to the factory mount to fit the newer, larger tweeter

I wanted to size is the GM tweeter. Sounds like I'm better off bypassing the tweeters with a 3 or 4 way 6 1/2 speaker and disconnect the tweeters.
