Sweet...

That is one big bad ass water pump too.
Yeah I was pretty surprised that it is in fact just a housing....when you replace the water pump all that comes out is this....

very cool man... will be a fun project to watch you rebuild
I love messing with old junk like this

Found some info from another site. A member who has done this told me I have a few rare parts on here

"First, your need to keep the 3 groove lower pully, those are more rare than the engine, with that you can run P/S, A/C. IF you can locate an upper 3 groove that'd be super. Also you have a sime positive crankcase breather with the filter, try and salvage that too if you can, those are rare too."

So basically I need to hold on to the lower pulley:

And the crankcase filter canister:

They are a very strong motor. I know where there is one around here that powers all the saws at a small sawmill.

i had one of those in the parts pickup i took the cab off of. the truck had been parked for about 10 years had a ton of miles on it. thought we would see if it ran so we put a battery in the truck and some gas in the carb. and turned her over fired right up great oil presser sounded solid. those gmc v6s were some torque monters. not much on horse power but a hell of a work engine. i tryed and tryed to sellit before i had the truck towed off but never could sell it. a place to get parts for it is kanter autp products. kanter.com they about got everything ud ever need but damn they are expensive!!

cool project ill have to check in on this one!

Thanks. From what I'm hearing the general consensus is to find a 2 plane intake from another 60-66 truck and put a 2 plane 500 holley on it and it'll run better, as well as a different style distributor.

I have a lot more pics, but My iphone took a crap so I'm upgrading tomorrow to the new one.

I filled the engine up completely with diesel, and took one of the heads off. All three cylinders were full of water but no rust. Filled them up with trans fluid (its good for seeping past those rings).....The head gasket still has "GMC" stamped in it, so that tells me its never been apart.

Heres some testimonials from back in the day...
