My dad thinks its the battery cause it does the same thing when his battery went out. It would drag then all sudden takes off and starts.

Its gonna be one of these things, so check them all.

Bad Battery (like others suggested, get it checked for free)
Battery cables (check the connection to both the battery and the starter, and check the ground on the frame and block).
Starter may be going out (but you'll have to remove it to have it tested)
Timing may be off a bit
Alternator

Went Autozone and there saying alternator. 1st reason the battery will be 3 years old in November and 2nd the alternator was showing 13.25 volts on charging and 3rd its getting weak for never being replaced. They said I could prolong til the alternator started to stall truck out. They think it will go out this coming winter. They also said alternator is probably not charging the battery all the way up.

Most alternators put out at least 13.5-13.8 volts when running. Some put out as much as 14.5 volts. But regardless, 13.25 should be enough (I'd think) to charge your battery. :dunno:
I'd go to another parts store and have it checked again, see what they say.

Autozone said that it should be 14.5 on the charging system.
