I would love to have that oil burner engine and tranny out of that truck. Why not just use it?

I will run it for a year at least, I dislike the trans, would prefure a 5 speed. BUt man would this be cool with a duramax and allison, plus a 4wd conversion!

It would, if you have unlimited funds. I usually do end up converting all my two wheel drive trucks to 4x. but I think that truck would look cool slammed.

FInally had a day off, aside from catching up in family life I inspected the General. And pretty much as expected its not perfect!

Must do list, for inspection.

Windshield*maybe, has two chips, may or may not pass*
Wiper blades and multifunction switch *only rinse works...:wtf:
One LT215/85 R16 Tire *what a freakin unicorn size!* :frustration:
Fuel Filter *needs it, not for inspection, just feel goodness. :D
RH outer tie rod
All Ball Joints upper and lower
Rubber collar on steering shaft
Front and rear sway bar bushings
Rear brake hose *will try to get a stainless braided unit*
Both rear park brake cables.
Rear axle seals *will change them when I have the drums off to do cables
Fuel tanks saddles (all 4)
2 U-joints

Gonna shop online for most of this stuff, and for the front end components I will cheap out as they need not last to long before I do the 4wd conversion. :)

I know, but they are bad, and I just need the truck as a spare vehicle right now. It does suck. :(

I just replaced every control arm, sway bar, and other bushings on a Ranger. As well as the shocks, ball joints and other wearable suspension parts. That cost well over $800 for everything. Even though I doubt you will go that far with your GM, I doubt the parts are much less.

Well, got the drivers window in today, rewired the window switch and fixed the ground. Install door panel, vacuumed the interior and changed the oil over to some Amsoil oil and filter.

Tomorrow I`m gonna shop for some new fuel tank mounts and get the new tanks in, making an order of parts to make her legal, then of course as time allows fix her up!
