10 bucks says the new gt500 waxes the ZL1 everywhere. GM needs to hurry up and get the new small blocks to market.

Fixed that for ya. It has nothing to do with their power plants. They can already make a boat load of power from the current engines.

The fact that two cars that 99.999% of the population will never even sit in much less own are in the top HP war is meaningless. The 5.0 GT and the SS are where the real people hang out anyway.

Pretty interesting seeing a nice little pissing war unfold between Ford & Chevy, regardless of what side you stand on.

I'd get a Camaro over a Mustang anyway, but the current model is quite heavy. At least it also has a better handling for drunk-driving :jester:

GM doesn't even make a factory forged engine like the gt500 has. I don't feel the current gen blocks are sufficient anymore. The 5.3 is getting pretty damn long in the tooth.
GM probably doesn't have an incentive to push the bar to new levels since the camaros and trucks are still selling really well. :fume:

Since the current engine architecture meets EPA emissions standards easily, is supremely reliable, and makes plenty of power for 99.9% of the buyers, there is no reason for them to rush the next generation of engines. Emissions and fuel economy will be the driving force in any further development... not horsepower.

I know gearheads don't like hearing this, but it's fact.
