I wonder where GM is hiding the lead ingots in that ZL1 ... I mean c'mon ... over 4000 lbs?!

There's absolutely no reason why a Camaro should weigh 1000 lbs. more than the Corvette.

I have an AWD 5-Dr. Turbocharged car and it's 800 lbs. less than the Camaro, with another drive axle and 13" brakes (and no fancy two piece rotors either!)

The interior KILLED the Camaro for me ... I LOVE the exterior, LOVE the sound, LOVE the way they drive, but I don't want to be transported back to the 1980s when I get in it. My Subaru is bad enough.

Retro FTW :tmc:

IMO the Chevy guys didn't think Ford would throw 100hp at the 2013 GT500. Their last major HP bump was going from 540 to 550. I think GM was banking on them going somewhere around 600hp.

Power isn't enough to be fast these days ... my Subaru had 305 HP and its much slower than a stock LS1 Camaro. Power delivery and how it's translated to the ground counts for a lot! Especially when you get up above 400 - 500 HP.

Regardless, these cars are beasts! The amount of performance you can drive off a lot these days is unreal. I love it ... and I'm JONESing from a V8. Need to build a big block for Fred II.

I agree with Alan. The power available even in the normal family cruiser today is more than so called "performance" cars had in the 80s-90s and the performance offerings from today are over the top!

I like it!

Very true. I remember in the late 80's or early 90's when Ford bumped the Mustang's output to 235 HP. The ads read something like "235 horses is bound to kick something."

These days, my "grocery getter" has more HP than Mustangs from that time period.. and it gets better mileage.. (and, no, I am not saying it's better than a Mustang )
