That's total crap! The GOV shouldn't be able to force us to have certain accessories on our vehicles. If they start mandating stuff, I'll never buy a new vehicle.

I think that states requiring inspections is total B.S. too. Its just something to get you into the shop and get the mechanics to make easy (and more) money. On that same side note, do states that have inspections have lower crash rates or anything than states that don't inspect?

If they START mandating stuff? Seatbelts, headlights, antilock breaks, traction control, pollution control components, "softer impact dashes to reduce injuries in crashes,"... the list goes on and on..
Didn't know Traction Control was mandatory now.
I understand and don't mind the stuff that actually works and saves lives along with SOME emissions stuff, but what I don't care for is Tire Pressure Monitoring and possible backup cameras.

I don't like the fact that people no longer have to have enough common sense to look at a tire and say "oh, that doesn't look good" when it needs air. Next they'll have sensors to tell when the puck on a brake caliper is out too far instead of people hearing the brakes squeal. I'm sure there are people that don't do anything unless a little light comes on on their dash.

Please dont there on state inspections. I live in VA and we have them and they suck. But do know a place that only checks brakes, suspension, and lights. Failing inspection for truck being lifted too high or lowered too low is complete BS. I'd rather pay higher insurance if its that much of safety hazzard then get rejected for a safety inspection for that.
A truck lifted too much is a safety problem (the bumper won't do any good and they'll just drive over today's low cars), but I don't like how some states set the limit lower than others.
I can't believe they can hit you for lowering too much. I mean, you can only go as low as the frame/body panels anyways. :dunno:

I don't mean nor want to start a fight. I'm just stating my opinion.

292 people getting backed into? Even my dog running around outside knows not to go near the truck moving.

That is insane to mandate something like that! Some of the other stuff that has been mandated, I understand, but this? :dunno:

I don' t think it will change a thing. People will still just get in, turn the key, put it in reverse and just back up without looking.

Not to mention those that will do the above and be on the phone or texting!

Once again the government is stepping beyond its boundries. This is a classic example of people not taking responcibility for their actions. I have nothing against camera's or people using them. But I dont want to pay for one and do not want to be forced to buy them. Iwould not be surprised if more people get hit. All this safty crap makes people turn their brains off trust technology which is idiotic. Its like GPS systems. The next generation and most of the current will not be able to read a map because they trust technology. When the GPS fails they are screwed.

This is what I found for WI (in a quick search):
max height 13'6"
tires can be 8" taller than stock
max 5" suspension lift (seems like a weird number)
max 2" longer shackles
bumper must be within 9" of stock (cars 2"; not sure why); not sure about drop-bumpers for the rear

I always thought 6" suspension plus tires and you'd be safe :dunno:.

I mis-spoke about traction control, but stability assist (to try to prevent roll-overs) has become mandated, as I recall... The two systems tend to work hand in hand on newer vehicles, but you can have one without the other..

hawaii has safety inspections. i stopped doin them this year. yes i'm rolling dirty. mandating "nice things to have" is dumb. ABS, airbags.....good to go, they were actual advancements in technology to provide real safety to the driver. back up camera's provide no safety for the driver, only another distraction, something else to check to turn on. going along w/dvd for the kids, radio, cell phone, gps. notice, non of which have to do w/driving. what happened to getting in, checking mirrors, and going? as stated before, if the dumbass, walking behind the vehicle w/white taillights on moving backwards, continues to walk behind that vehicle......maybe it's just natural selection. survival of the fittest.

most of those deaths i'm sure were kids, little ones running around having a good time playing. that's sad, and a tragic loss. if leaving a friends w/kids playing be extra careful pulling out! stop play time, tell the kids to get up by the house, check behind and under the vehicle! safety no matter what is the responsibility of the driver. not new technology.
