Hey Dave, did you get any more info on this trans as far as specific symptoms??? Let us know what comes of it.

Ok, I'm gonna buy the whole truck without the bed for $400 w/no title. Its going to be a parts truck for me. I'm gonna take the rebuilt gm crate out and put in my 2500 since it has 3 or more rods knocking. The fuel pump is either frozen or needs replaced from for 1 or 2 years with a full tank of gas. Will stay running when spraying carb cleaner in the carb/injectors. This was a abandon vehicle on a landlords property.
Sounds like a good parts truck. You're sure the motor is a new crate motor and a good one?? Sounds to me it has a new transmisison in it too, but its no good. Would make a great parts truck for your pieced together 2500. Keep in mind, that trans won't work in your newer truck. You newer truck has a 4L60-E electronic trans. The trans in this donor parts truck is a 4L60 aka 700r4 if its original.

Well the block looks really clean around the exhaust manifolds. The new tenant on the property said he it has less than a 100k. He said 8k or 80k but he wasnt for sure. He knew the guy who abandon it.

Sure is a big difference in 8,000 or 80,000 miles. Seems this guy is selling someone elses truck. You sure someone won't come back on you wanting his truck back??? $400 seems little high for a truck that don't run and you doing someone a favor hauling it off when he hasn't got a dime in it himself. Sure its probably worth it I guess, but I'd hit the guy up at $300 since there are so many unknowns and no title which will make it tough for you to get rid of the left overs. JMO, but if its a legite deal, I don't think you'd be hurt on the deal if you take knowing it might just be cores. The TBI wiring harness alone is worth something. If body parts are in good shape, you should make your money back fairly quick.

Hadn't heard from you in awhile. Hope you and the wife doing OK, and all has settled down after the loss of your dad. A bit at peace I bet knowing his suffering is over.

Went and paid half down on this truck on Wednesday. I get it when they get the bed removed.

Cool !!! I bought another Square Body a couple weeks ago. 85 GMC K1500. Has a Goodwrench Crate 350 motor in it with less than 10K mles on it. A 700r4 (NO 3rd & 4th) 3.73 fromt and rear axle ratios. The guy had put an Eddy Performer EPS intake on it, an Eddy Carb, headers and new exhaust. 2 weeks later the trans lost 3rd and 4th., so those adders are basically brand new too. He also bought a new battery for it since it sat for 6 months, just so they could get the motor fired up for me to listen to. The guy said even with a new motor and all the new parts, he said a trans rebuild was gonna cost $1200 and he didn't want to put any more money in it. Then I told him, I hate to make you sick, but I feel I'll be honest and educate a bit so you don't make the same mistake in the future, but when you did the intake and carb swap, and didn't hook up that TV cable since the linkage was differant, that is what killed the trans. He replied, I thought was just kickdown. Poor guy, then I told him, you're not alone this happens all the time to people who think that cable is just kickdown. I ended up getting the truck for $500. Runs great, 4x4 works and all. 85 is a crappy core, so I got a 89 700r4 to build for it now. Got some beefing u to do with the 700r4 when I build it, then it'll be a great running truck.

Cool, I have a 73 chevy truck hood that's near 100% rust free. There's a few small/tiny dents from me hauling it back with a snowplow on my truck on a windy day. I get some pictures of hood and plow.

Those hoods for the 73-80 model trucks are known for bending and folding in half. If its not folded yet, you might get a good price out of it for a used hood. That won't fit any of my 81-86 projects since in 81 they went to a 2 piece hood and cowl, where the 80 and earlier the hood is part of the cowl. Here is a couple pics of my $500 truck.

Nope its not bent or folded. Its a straight 73-80 hood. Can you still buy those bumper dolleys for towing.

You oughta be able to get a quick $50 out of that hood even if it has a couple dings in it. Maybe even more if you wanted to sit on it for a bit and lower the price as necessary if its not selling.

I don't know if you can or not. I bought this thing close to 25 years ago brand new and have used it tons. It universal, but it a real bitch and time consuming to hook up. I have a 18ft tandem trailer too, but when going on a longer drive and knowing what I am towing back has a bumper and good tires, I'll do the towbar since it gets better fuel mileage than towing a 1200lb trialer empty one way, then the added 1200lb and extra wind drag on the way back. I would have sold it years ago, but I can make it fit the box van too. If that box van breaks down, its not fitting on no trailer, and the tow bill would be hell, so I decided to keep the tow bar incase I have to pull the box van off the highway someday.
