Are 350’s still easy to get? If so, how would you build it?

I Agree, I would love to have a 78 or nine Ford with a 300. I have heard the Chevy in line six is almost as good. But I think opening the hood of a nicely biult truck and seeing a clean V-8 would be nicer.

Why not throw a turbo on a straight 6? Definately different when you pop the hood.

More money and still not have as much motor.

And, who wants to hear the sound of a straight 6? That's half of the fun of a cruiser, the lope of the V8.

I will stick a turbo on any oil burner, but I do not see any reason to spend the money on an I6.

I headers for I6's. I would run them, but I would with out a doubt want a quiet muffler.

Been watching your thread....I have a friend who just had an engine swap done on his 2000 Chevy K2500.He now has a 350 with badly knocking rods or mains(no sure)sitting in the bed.Eventually it will get rebuilt and be ready for when the used engine he bought takes a dump.I'm really looking forward to taking it apart to look at the bearings...should be interesting.

Goos luck in your search

The 350's are still real easy to get. Just not from GM. Dart, edelbrock, world, and a lot of other aftermarket make blocks for them that are stronger and can handle more power than the ol' GM block. But if thats what your after, lots of them in scrap yards for sale and on craigslist.

GM scrapped the SBC for the new LS model because of the fuel economy. Since then the aftermarket has stepped up big time in the parts area. There are even models with fuel injection that is self programming. Nice stuff out there

I know what you mean. I love taking engines apart when they start making noises just to see if I can fix it.

I see what you ar saying. Summit has a assload of stuff for the LS.

My wife and I were talking about this today. Her dream car is a GTO Judge. Well, it turns out it is the body style she likes not neccassarily the Judge package. So I can get a LeMans and make nice and she would be happy with that. I made the statement that I would use a modern suspension and an LS in it. She flew off the handle at me. She said she wants to feel and hear that old engine under the hood. I could not for the life of me get her to see why an LS would be a better choice. Women...
