The funny thing is I had a 350 a while back that was in the bed of a truck I bought. I was told it was a "high output engine". I am not sure what that means. But because i had to immidiate use for it I let the wife sell it while I was in Iraq. Looking back now I kind of regret it.
The classic 350 is still easily available and with a strong aftermarket support, but actually the LS seems to be also a good option for cost-effectiveness.
I watched that show on PowerBlock about the LS. He said you can buy a turn key engine with everything needed to make it run for 7 to 800 bucks. Is that true?
