I'll get it done. Its just been the problems of getting a good case or it would have been done already. I think we got a good one now, so after tommorow I should be able to get to it. OTS will be open Tuesday I'd think so I can get the bands and spiral snap ring. After that I have all I need. Hopefully have it done Wednesday if things work out OK with my son being here. I doubt anyone will jump right on it either, as tranny shops are going to have work lined up, so I'm thinking, I'd probaby have it done before they would anyway.
wed or thur or even fri...be ok with me and trust me i want you to do it.. yes tranny case been a issue-just didnt want to tie your hands in being able to make money i know how it is. Thanks again for doing the tranny and for not being discouraged. i know we would of been done with it by now if it wasnt for the case issue we had.

Im going to call ace transmission 2 mor they gav me a number that i can call for a converter-i lost the number-i talked to the converter place before they said 150.00 for a 2500-i think its a hole shot one. The monza had a 2200-2500stall but because of its weight it felt like it was around 1800rpm-so i think like you said the trk being heavier help get the stall up where its in the 2500 range with a 2200-2500 stall. i don't want to go much higher i guess because of all the in town driving i do and i won't have to because of the weight an the cam and timing should be all kicking in around then and i'll get more of my power band like i think you was saying.-i was just looking at summit-wow! 250.00 or more

You buy the converter to match the trans. T350 and T400 use the same converters. How about this idea? Since you got a 2500 for the Monza and didn't get 2500 likley due to the lightweight, why don't you use the 2500 out of the Monza in the truck and should get the 2500 as advertised and get a 3000 for the Monza and my might actually get 2400-2600 out of it. Yep, you do want to keep stall as low as necessary since it creates alot of heat. Heat is what kills transmissions.

I would but i sold the monza and the 75 i didnt get what its worth but i think i got enough to get the 454 long blked and be able to finish up the tranny and pay you. and id rather just go brand new its best bet.just talked to burt 1300.00 for the short blk and thats with it already being bored 30 over and new cam bearings and freeze plugs in it and that 1300.00 includes the kit with new pistons and rings... having the rods hanged an crank turned and balanced an assembled..he is 2 weeks away from being able to do it-i got to find a FLEXPLATE for it.and it probably be another 500.00 on the heads. i'll put the heads on my self and put in the cam and timing chain...its going to be bad!!!

Hey 63 Joe, drag your feet coming over in the morning. Another problem. The manual valve linkage that goes to the outside of the case to connect to your shfiter, that piece is bent. I noticed it when you brought it over, and thought it was just the bracket. Nope, its the whole rod. So I went to go get the other one from that other trans core, and its threads are stripped. So I have another one, but its at the shop. Its almost 4am and I am gonna crash for a bit instead of running over there in the dark and walking thru that place in the dark to get to the light switch. I'm gonna sleep for a bit, then I'll go get it. Otherwise, everything else seems to be going good finally. Gonna be a good trans and worth the wait. Did you decide on a converter yet? What are you installing this in now? How soon you going to do that??

Its going in the 63-im going to install a.s.a.p.-2500stall converter-i'll wait for you to call---thanks again for going beyond the call of duty on this tranny-no telling what a shop would of done... im up now so any time be good. Iv been working on the gas tank in the 63-its been converted over with the tank in back an they done kinda crapy job doing it-they cut bed boards...the cap wouldnt go on tight an lock on it so-so it has leaves and dirt...in the tank and its a 26 gallon tank an im droping it and cleaning it out an having my bro law who is a welder add 4inches to the bottom of the tank an make it a 35 gallon tank-so no matter my gas miles per gallon i'll be able to go a far distance without having to stop for gas so much. Im thinking i'll get around 10mpg-and that get me 350miles per tank an cost a 100.00 per tank at 2.80 gallon-but i always put the 91 in my hot rods no matter what so it be just a tad over 100.00.But going 350 miles per tank will make it trip worthy. My 70 has a 19 gallon tank and i get almost 12mpg in it and it cost 50.00 to fill and go about 225 miles-that kinda sucked.

FINALLY DONE !!!

Woo Hoo its finally done and Joe has it now. How many weeks ago was it this got started and should have been a 2 day deal? A day to strip it and get it to the machine shop for cleaning, then next day pick it up from the machine shop and assemble. Between bad cores and damaged hard parts, to acquiring the right parts form differant locations, this was the worst nightmare trans I ever built. Also in between my dads gunshot, the holidays, my son being in town and working, time wasn't plentiful. But, its done, and done right. Provided that core case has all its passages cleaned out, it oughta be able to tolerate some heavy duty abuse and give consistant firms shifts !!! Not interested in doing another one anytime soon. Now I get to start on my bro's Turbo 350 for his El Camino, then I'll finally get to build my own 700r4 for the 85 K 1500 4x4 I bought last month !!! That's one I'll be looking forward to doing. :fingersx:
