Well I am glad that we were able to get the truck running, pto engaged and bed up. Originally the fuel gauge was reading little fuel in the tank. I removed the bolts from the sending unit and it had a full tank of fuel. That would have made it interesting if we dropped the tank. Especially since we originally that it was about empty.

First thing that I noticed in comparison to the service techs notes is that he mentioned that the screen on the sending unit was filled with grit from the tank breaking down. The tank was spotless and there is not screen on these sending units. Not only that but it appeared that the sending unit had never been removed from the tank before.

We replaced all the filters and started it up. This is what it sounds like.

I ordered parts for the fuel pressure regulator rebuild. We are going to start with that and go from there.

I am also going to get a scanner on it to get a reading of the PID. I want to start it and see what the running temps are between the engine oil and engine coolant. I've read that if the difference is more than 5 degress and can mean that the oil cooler can be stopped up and need flushed or replaced.

If the problem persists it can blow and oil will get into the coolant. This is almost impossible to flush. Still no engine lights.

It's more like 15 degrees some say ford says 20.

Actually sounds pretty good for what you thought you would have at first. . They are loud engines. I would remove the cat and leave the muffler. The cat is useless and restricts exhaust flow. I doubt you want a straight piped 6.0 though. The muffler doesn't restrict that much.

I know this sounds dumb but I would get a flash tuner and through a nice heavy tow tune on it. Should wake the engine up a bit but they are super safe and will actually make it a better truck.

The 5r110 is a good trans but they do go out. Maybe do a fluid flush?

Any residue around the coolant res? Coolant flush is needed if it doesn't have Low silica coolant. That is what clogs the oil cooler and egr.

Your egr has a valve on the intake horn. That sucks but oh well. You might want to pull the EGR valve out and clean it. A good tuner can turn it off and save you that hassle. On a good note, the egr coolers for 03/04 are the stronger design.

Try some rev-x in the engine. Will cost you 70$ but it does help the injectors and should smooth out the idle.

A cheaper version is evergreens archoil 9100. Works for some better than rev-x and listening to your idle, I think it might give you better results than I got. I have a bad injector though.

When they look like they are broken, they are running well, apparently. Also, they add three to five inches in penis length.

I got the fuel pressure regulator rebuild kit for $51! We'll see where that gets me tonight.

That's only with stacks. Getting a tune that'll throw soot is even 4 more inches! :jester:
