Lol. The 6.0 is a complicated bitch. I don't know about d-max's I do know they have there things to watch for but, I am pretty versed in 6.0 maint.

Good to hear you got her running Brian. Though I know nothing about diesels, it sounds pretty good.

If I had to guess I bet it was the injector pressure regulator that was partially stuck open/closed as to why it ran like it was running, starving for fuel.

We replaced or rebuilt the fuel pressure regulator and it still ran like poop. Idling rough and rocking the truck. Made a last minute decision to run to auto zone to grab a fuel pump. Installed that and it ran really bad at first. We turned the key a few times trying to get the air bubbles out of the lines as the system returned the fuel to the tank. There was that time that we turned the key and we heard something click in the engine compartment. Started it up and it ran perfectly fine.

I can't tell you what fixed the problem but I know that when you upgrade the fuel pressure regulator it can take a few startups for the truck to run like normal.

I am going to get some new end links. They sway bars are rattling like crazy.

Odd that it ran if the IPR was going bad. It can't just stick in one spot. It adjusts as the engine runs and warms up etc. the fuel pump was not bad i take it? Wonder if the HPOP screen was clogged and it tore and let everything through. If its running , i would let it heta up nicley then most likely change the oil filter IF the oil is good. Just to get rid of anything that has been gummed up and broke loose after a nice warm run.

I can't think of what would "click" and them make it run like magic.

I would assume it was the fuel pump. Normally if the IPR was stuck open it wouldn't run at all.

We tossed the idea of putting amsoil in it but will probably just get something from auto zone.

If you are not going to keep it no sense in spending more than you have too. Actually Wallyworld has a better price on diesel oil than AutoZone.
