I know rotary guys use pre-mix, and some are religious about it.

I don't, however, think it's a great idea for a modern piston engine. Gasoline evaporates at a low temperature, the MMO doesn't. The gasoline is sprayed onto the back of the intake valve to aid in atomization (valve is hot). Guess what happens to the MMO you just put in the gas?

Diesels have direct injection, so they spray directly into the chamber.
Rotaries have no valvetrain, so the A/F mix doesn't have to flow around a valve.

The entire gasoline system in your truck was engineered to operate without additives. Most of your manufacturers out there do not suggest any additives as a result of that.

Gas already has all of the additives it needs.

I call :bs: on any benefit.

What kind of negative impact will this have on the injectors? Probably minimal on a TBI, but I wouldn't take the chance on the newer MPI systems.

Remember, just because it "sounds" logical and a few people on the interweb are doing it does NOT mean it's a good idea. There are engineers that design these systems that know a helluva lot more about them than we do, if they didn't design for it, I wouldn't use it.

If a little bit of oil is good for the top end, I might as well open my ring gaps a bit and let a little blowby in.

Just because you are way out in the country and no water is available...
Don't stand on the bumper of a Model A while the engine is running, and piss in the radiator either, when it gets hot and needs water.

If somebody "GOOSES" you while you are doing it...and the stream hits the magneto... it is extremely painful.

At least that is what I have heard... :D :rollin: :D

Personally I don't see how a small amount could hurt anything.

I agree. Common sense tells you that if our trucks cannot handle a 500:1 ratio of gas and 2-stroke oil...then there is a bigger problem at stake...like our pansy-ass engines.

I'm not saying the claims are true...but a minuscule amount of oil is not going to hurt our engines.

Hell, my friend's '07 classic with the 4.3 was not hurt when his girl friend put diesel in it. It didn't run the whole tank, but it chewed through a much higher concentration of diesel than a 500:1 ratio.

Gas jobs will run diesel... As far as I know, it doesn't actually hurt them... They just run like absolute crap, and probably get a fair amount of carbon buildup in them, due to the unburnt fuel...
The O2 sensors and cat converters, however, will be very unhappy.

I doubt that small of a mixture is going to help any...

But from what I hear from around the way, leaded gasoline did kind of the same thing... It lubricated the fuel system... IMO, seafoam and lucas injector clean it every couple oil changes and you'll be set

If it does work, however, make sure to let us know

Then we can take it off the snake oil list :)

Ah yes, the ole' run 2 cycle mix in a gas engine thread.

I would think if our vehicles needed it the engineers would spec it to be used and the oil companies would be on board full force pushing it to make more money.

There are so many out there that have over 400k miles on their gas engines and never used anything but good old plan gasoline from what the manufacture spec'ed, that should say something. Good quality fuel and regular maintenance and life is good!:)
