Not bad for an old diesel wrench...

:jester:

Well done, brother. That panel will look factory by Tuesday
 Thanks Scott. Sheet metal is not my favorite part but it will get done. As long as I keep a good supply of grinding discs, all can be saved. :jester:
I envy you! I am hoping the patience will flood me to start doing body work.

In the past, I just worked overtime building engines to afford to pay the body shop to repair my failed attempts, and utter loss of patience at body work,

Well not much accomplished this past long weekend. Spent Saturday helping my brother in law get a small tractor he bought running.

Sunday was blown going to my wife's Great Aunt's 100 year birthday party. That was cool.

Monday was hot and I spent most of the day wiping sweat out of my eyes but got a little accomplished.

Cut a small patch for an overlap in the cowl area.

Cut a template of the shape I was after for replacing the inner cowl that I cut out.

Laid the wiper cowl up to see how it looked and was pretty happy with it.

Metal cut and tacking it in place.

Added a 1 1/2" lip to the edge for an area to attach the front of the wiper cowl.

Nice work as always!
Thanks, I'm starting to burn out on this metal work though. Maybe because it was just hot this weekend, I don't know! Just getting a little frustrated, maybe it's time to jump to a different corner of the cab. You know, change of scenery.

Wrapped up the bracing of the fender/ cowl mount and squirted some primer on it.

Started capping off the wire gutter channel across the firewall to give it a cleaner look. More to do but it's a start.

Now I made it to the driver side cowl air box and fresh air vent. I started cutting it open and prepping for blanking off the fresh air vent.

Hole cut out and template made.

The center of the pic you can see my sharpie marks, this is rust through areas. Not unusual since the fender bracket is directly behind there. It traps water and the all rust out there.

It's all chopped out right now and I have a template made. I ran out of steel and had to go buy a sheet of 16 gauge so I could continue. I'll get back on it Saturday and take more pics.

Awesome! I'm glad you keep this updated, thanks for all the pictures!
I finally have something of substance to post, so I plan to keep it updated as I go or until Shaggy pulls the plug on this shindig!

But seriously, there is an awesome forum specifically for these trucks, Project: "ResuWrecktion" '71 Custom Deluxe C-10 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network , and I keep my thread updated over there too. Tons and tons of info over there but maybe one little thing that I post will help someone else down the road. On one or the other.

That's what all these forums were meant to do anyway right? :tmc:

Well you always have something of substance to post, more thane the average forum goer!

Maybe one day I'll do the same. Not many people care about dump truck or work truck builds.
