I'm gonna try to keep this thread going since I have the truck and have started working on it. :tmc:

The truck: 1971 Chevrolet Custom Deluxe C-10, small block 350 with Turbo 350 and 3:42's (IIRC).

I bought this truck in the summer of '84, worked my ass off to save money for it. Bought it from the original owner who had always kept it inside, kept meticulous maintenance records, the truck had one minor dent in the right bed panel where he rubbed the barn door pulling in.

Had a camper shell on and the bed was just spotless, not even a scratch in the bed. I used the truck all through school, hot rodded the hell out of it but took care of it.

When I started working on ships I suddenly had more money to waste, so the drivetrain and power plant were constantly getting swapped around. If I got out ran I would literally stay up as long as it took to make it faster. :D

I got other toys but always kept ol' Blue in the shop under a cover. My best friend and I were drinking beer one night, talking about his son getting his drivers license. My buddy was agonizing over it because he couldn't afford to get the boy a vehicle. I handed him the keys to the truck, the only stipulation was to NEVER sell it because one day I might want it back. That day was Friday!

Now if you've suffered through this long enough I'll get to the pics.

    Heading out:

Loaded up Finally, back in my possession after 12-14 years.

The boy wrecked the truck, was hit in the left front by some lady. The front end is pushed over 1 1/2"- 2". seems to just be the front portion of the frame rails so it's no real big deal....

I expected the rusted rocker panels and cab corners.

That seat looks like the one in my 89 GMC Sierra.

Started assessing the damages this weekend. Ignition switch has finally worn out, so that's on order. But a screw driver will work for the time being.

Pulled the stereo out and a bunch of hacked up wiring. Not trying to make anything perfect yet, just trying to make sure it doesn't burn down. :p

    Front end is coming apart.

Yeah it came out of a '90 model I believe. Found a conversion shop up in Dallas that had seats, steering wheels and bunch of take out stuff from conversions they did. All new stuff and pretty cheap, then..

That's got to be the first 67-72 Chevy pickup I've seen with the rocker panels rusted out. :jester:

Those old trucks are sweet. I wish I still had my '72 Cheyenne.
